am i being selfish? or would you feel this way?

a friend of mine has a daughter that is 6 weeks older than mine. Every single thing I get Hannah, down to her snow boots and mittens, she HAS to have it. She copies every toy, outfit, etc. I know copying is a form of flattery, but it drives me insane. WWYD? She's a good friend so it's not like I can be rude, but I feel like enough is enough.
Mom to 2 beautiful girls, 3 yrs and 22 months old. My 2nd was born at 32 weeks due to Rhogam failure/severe complications from Rh disease and is our miracle. She has bilateral auditory neuropathy and a cochlear implant, activated 4/5/2012 at 19 months. Lilypie First Birthday tickers

    Hmm, I guess there's no real way you can tell her to stop buying the same stuff as you without sounding mega-rude.  The outfit thing would bother me.  How is she copying all your stuff?  Maybe stop talking about where you got things from?  Throw her off the trail!

    Yes, older movie.  The main character's friend starts dressing like her, cuts her hair like her, etc. and tries to become her.

    i have tried this. I don't tell her where I get it from! a few things, like Hannah's homemade hat, i won't tell her for sure!!! it's so unique, and she gets compliments everywhere we go. ughhhhh

    I had this happen to me - so I did what Fish said - everytime she asked me where I got something...I would tell her some random store...if she happened to find it somewhere else then fine but she was going to work for it...

    Or just kind of talk around her question.....

    Her:  Hey where did you get such and such....

    You:  Hey speaking of such and such - how about we go blah blah blah...

    There is really nothing you can do unless you want to sound petty. And, really, while it's annoying, why does it really matter? So, her kid gets the same boots? What's the big deal? It seems a lot of people are sympathizing with you but, honestly, if this is your biggest problem, then you're doing pretty well.

    Tell her etsy. Or the Just Between Friends sale in your area. Or a friend's sister bought it at a boutique out of town (or while on vacation, etc.).

     She'll search forever and never end up with the same thing.

    I would be upset, too, but not enough to say anything. Good luck.

    I'd make a joke out of it.  If she asks you where you got something I would say...I don't want to tell you because I want DD to be the only one with it and kind of laugh.  She'll get the hint.
