Two Under 2

Anyone out there who would not do 2U2 again?

I admit, as of right now, there is no way I would ever be pregnant with a 2yo again.  (Strangely, I'm finding the newborn and 2yo phase easier than PG + 2yo.)  Anyway, we do plan on more kids, but I refuse to do this age gap again - it was just too rough on me.  I'll either space them closer or farther apart.  Will have to do the math, LOL.  Anyone else, or am I totally alone here?

  • Right now? No.  But we plan to have more kids when the boys are in preschool and I guarantee by then I will have forgotten how hard it is. LOL

I have an amazing support system so I do plan to do 2u2 again in 3 years or so.

  • we only want two kids so I am glad that they are 2 under 2...that being said if we had wanted a third I would def have waited until my youngest was at least 2.5 to try again...
  • I think it really depends on your kids.  We happened to luck out with two awesome sleepers.  Plus DD is the most chill baby - we thought DS was a great baby but she blows him away.  So we don't have any regrets about 2 under 2

I know it will get harder when DD becomes mobile.  We do plan on having more kids, but are definitely taking a break!

  • If I had to decide right now, I'd say I'd like Brennan to be at least 2.5 when #3 is born. But I'm in the weeds right now- ask me again in 3 months when Brennan isn't quite a newborn. I'm hoping when he gets to be a little more independent and is stimulated by watching me play with Ryan, it will be easier.

I do know that I do not want another Fall baby. I'm off for the summer and chasing around a toddler in my 3rd tri was way too tough. I'd like another late winter baby so in the summer I'll be in my first tri (I'm lucky and have never gotten m/s)

  • I am totally with you on this one.  I would not have planned to have 2u2 in the first place but things happen for a reason.  If we have more which we probably will it will not be for a few years.

That being said I have awesome kids.  Very go with the flow laid back children and great sleepers from day one I just feel I can not be the best parent I can be with them so close.

  • Well, the first 2u2 was fine. It's the second 2u2 now that's hard. Having 3 kids in 3 years, with no help around is NOT easy. It's logistically hard right now.

We wanted a bigger spacing between 2 and 3, but I am very fertile and get PG while EBF.........

  • Not alone.  We have debated on #3 and are leaning towards stopping at 2 now.  But if we did have #3, we both said that we would NOT repeat this age difference.  It's just a little tough, especially when DH is OOT.

  • I want one more but after the twins were born DH said noway.  DD was 19 mpnths when they were born and it's been a dream.  If I couldc hange DH's mind, I woukd want the same spread, if not even a little closer.

  • No way and I have good sleepers/eaters.

#2 is SUPER easy and a surprise. I still am in awe that people plan this. We plan #3 for 3-4 years from now.

  • Yep, I also refused to do it again.  I wasn't willing to even consider #3 until #2 was 2 y/o.  PG with a toddler sucked big time.  I thought newborn and 2 y/o was much easier.  But, 1 and 3 year old about killed me.  They're much better now at 2 and 4.  But, #2 went and PT'd super easy, so it's very hard to consider going back to diapers again at this point.  I knew I couldn't survive 2U2 again, though.  If we have a 3rd, #2 will be over 3 when s/he comes along.

    I love having 2u2 :)

I def love it now that the baby is almost 1!

  • Well we are officially done having kids, but if given the choice - no I would not do 2u2 again.

I didn't even really want to do it the first time, but I was 36 when my DD was born and almost 38 when my twin boys were born.  Pregnancy wasn't easy on me physically so that is why they are close.  If I could space them the way I wanted to it - I would have been closer to 40 when the #2 came along.  It was not recommended.  So I got pregnant the weekend my DD turned a year old.

But with the twins I technically I had 3u2.  Now my DD is closer to 3 - but I still have 2u2.
