I had one at 5 weeks and all you could see was the yolk sac -- they can tell if everything is in the right place and if its single or twins usually but no HB.
I had an ultrasound the same time as you last week. They just found the gestational sac and determined it was a singleton non-ectopic pregnancy. Way too early to see much (for me).
BFP #1 10/17/09: missed m/c at 7 weeks; BFP #2 10/22/10: chemical pregnancy; BFP #3: 1/28/11
My first appointment was at 5 weeks and 2 days and my doctor didn't do an u/s because he said all we would be able to see was a sac that early. I don't think you can see the heartbeat until after 6w and a few days. Good luck!
I went in right at 6 weeks.... and they did not hear the hearbeat - but the gestional sac looked good - and they could see a little bit of the baby... but not enough :-) (my opinion) My uterus is in a funny position - kinda tilted back... so things are alittle small to see - I have another ultrasound scheduled in 3 weeks - It's soooo terrible to have to wait!
I had one right at or a day before 6 weeks and they were able to see the sac and yolk however no HB was seen. I was told it was too early and am having another one this Thursday where I will be 7W1D. So yes, I don't think you will be able to see much let alone see the HB.
We thought I was 7 weeks but the size of the yoke was more like a 5-6 weeks. We could see the pulse but she tried to get a HB rate and she couldn't. So we have another appointment next week.
I was having some bleeding issues early on. At my 5w4d internal u/s they were able to see the sac and a heartbeat. I was shocked they could see this so early on. Felt good that everything was okay.
