Getting my H1N1 vaccine today!

I know there are mixed reviews out there of should you or shouldn't you...but I am on the "yes you should" team.

I did not realize that there was a 2 weeks period after the shot that you need to be aware of?

Anyone get sick after receiving their shot?

TIA!

  • I got mine on Friday, and so far so good! :)
  • I got it last Saturday, I didn't have any side effects. I guess it's the same as any other flu shot, some people may have side effects, some may not.
  • I got mine last Thursday and haven't had any issues. It wasn't even sore at the spot of the injection.

I could be wrong, but I think the 2 week thing is how long the vaccine takes to boost your immunity.

  • I got mine on Friday and so far so good nothing to complain about and yes it takes about 14 days for your body to build up the antibodies to be immunized.

    This!  :)

  • I am too... along with my seasonal flu shot! I never thought I'd actually be happy to get a shot.

  • Zero side effects here.

  • I had no side effects at all. I even had hardly any soreness. Now the regular flu shot hurt really bad and was sore for like 3 days! But H1N1 was fine.

  • Congratulations!! I got mine last Thursday... no side effects at all... thankful I got it because the guy who sits next to me at work just was diagnosed with h1n1 on friday of last week... 20 people (out of about 100) are out of the office today and were on friday too.. so I'm praying I don't get it!!! Hopefully my immunities are kicking a$$ but I feel great!

My OB said you do get some immunity instantly... but they really aren't sure how long it will take for full immunity... just that it will be less than 2 weeks (2 weeks is what the seasonal flu shot takes)... so it's possible for you to be immune before. They just say 2 weeks to be on the safe side.
