those with NUBY silicone spout sippy cups...

how do you keep the spouts from milk building up in them? I religiously rinse them out as soon as we're done with them and wash them by hand, but there are a few I just can't get the milk out of the spout and that is so gross.

I of course threw away the directions that came with them - can i boil them like I did the bottle nipples?

TIA!

  • Do you still have a bottle cleaner? Some of the bottle cleaners have an attachment at the bottom that you can pull out to clean out the nipples. I use that for the sippy spouts. I didn't even know it was there until it fell out of the bottom.

  • I soak the tops in a bowl of warm water overnight. If it's still stuck in there, I use q-tips.
  • We have this same issue. I use the nipple brush that comes with the bottle brush. However, I have to stick it clear up there to get all the gunk out, and then it ends up poking holes in the spout, etc. So, I am about ready to pitch them all, and just go straight to a cup.

  • ditto the bottle cleaner and I sometimes stick them in the dihwashers so that hot water gets it clean

edit- actually I should add that DS isn;t drinking his milk out of the cups yet, so maybe my comment doesn;t reallly apply.

  • thanks everyone! I wasn't using the bottle brush because i thought it might poke holes, but maybe i'll try it anyway. thanks!
  • I turn the spouts inside out and rub them with a soapy sponge.  That almost always gets the milk build-up out.
