How did your parents do gifts from Santa?

In our house the gifts that from Santa were put in front of the tree assembled and not wrapped so we could play with those at the butt crack of dawn instead of waking up our parents to open gifts. There was nothing like coming down the hallway and peeking around the corner to see if Santa had come.

I can't wait till DD is old enough to experience the same excitement.

  • That's cute! :)

In our house, Santa filled the stockings.  We'll do the same with DS.

  • Some gifts had Santa on the tag, some had mom and dad.
  • Santa does the stockings and 1 BIG gift not wrapped or tagged.

  • In our house, Santa filled the stockings and there would usually be one or two gifts around the tree from Santa as well.

  • Santa filled the stockings. There was also gifts from Santa under the tree that were wrapped in a special gold paper, and the tag was in calligraphy (my dad was artsy). It was so cool!

    We did this too!

  • Even to this day, my mom wraps every gift and writes "from Santa" on them. Mind you, My youngest sister is 26, I am 28, and my two oldest sisters are 32 and 36!

My MIL assigned a specific color wrapping paper from dh and his sisters. There were no tags and no "from Santa" on them. She just made a pile for each kid that was full of their color wrapping paper. It was the same color paper for each one every year.

I am excited for ds to experience Christmas this year! Last year we got him a few things but he obviously didn't get to open them himself since he was only 2 months old.

  • we weren't allowed out of our bedrooms until 7 and only then to go wake up my parents - no peeking in the living room

Santa presents were wrapped in special Santa paper, unless they were too big/awkward (like a bike).

we plan on handling Santa presents the same way

  • They were all wrapped. When we were old enough to recognize my mom's handwriting, she had the neighbor fill out the tags from santa.

    Stockings were santa too.

  • My parents did them unwrapped in front of the tree as well.  My Mom told me a few years ago that Santa presents were always the best because, after I went to sleep, my Dad & her would split a bottle of wine, assemble my Santa toys, and then play with them before going to bed.

  • A few of the gifts wrapped under the tree had "From Santa" on the tag. But I was always the ONE child in the world who actually slept in on Christmas and never once went downstairs before my parents to peek. LOL! They used to be up hours before me and have to finally wake me up. :)

Same here, except that everybody got up at the butt crack of dawn - we were not allowed downstairs until the whole family was up. I took it upon myself to wake eveyone.

  • Stockings were from Santa and then he left a bunch of unwrapped gifts around the tree!  We'll do the same for Kenley.  Rumor has it he'll be dropping off a cozy coupe with a big red bow!!! Wink

  • My gifts were always assembled and unwrapped too, but I did wake my parents at the butt-crack of dawn because I was NOT allowed down that hallway without them there to get photos and see my reaction.

This exactly!  I remember waking up at 4:00 am one year, and my parents held us off till 5:00.  That seemed like the longest hour ever!  Santa also filled the stockings at our house.

  • At our house, I think everything was from Santa and was wrapped.  Our tree was in the basement and we weren't allowed to peek until everyone was up.

I think we will do just one or two gifts from Santa and the rest from us.  I think stockings will be from us too.

  • Our stockings were from Santa and the bigger gifts he left us were set up in front of the fireplace. We weren't allowed downstairs though until Mom & Dad were ready to go.

    ETA: Santa gifts were unwrapped.

  • I got presents form Rudolph. Cupid all the other reindeer as well as Yukon Cornelius and Hermie

  • Everything was from Santa except clothes. Until Santa wasn't an issue.

  • In our house, Santa brought most of the gifts under the tree. They were all wrapped and our stockings were over flowing. My mom was awesome with stockings. We always went and got ours and played with that stuff before our parents got up.
  • Ours were also under the tree, assembled but not wrapped.

  • Santa gifts weren't wrapped, and big toys were already assembled. They were set on the couch with a sign with our name on it (so we wouldn't fight over toys).
  • We had stockings and wrapped gifts under the tree.  We were allowed to open stockings before mom and dad came down but had to leave the gifts under the tree until everyone was awake.

I'm hoping DS will understand a bit what is happening this year- I'm sure that after the 2nd or 3rd gift he'll be running around helping to open everyone elses gifts ;)

Santa also did the stockings and maybe one or 2 wrapped gifts with the tag labeled from him.

    Gifts from parents were wrapped.

We do wrapped presents from us and unwrapped from Santa.

  • Two presents were from Santa every year -- once we were old enough to ask Santa for things, all but the most unreasonable "Dear Santa" requests were honored.  They were wrapped in tissue paper and put under the tree in the bedroom my sister and I shared.  Stockings were also from Santa and put at our bedroom door.  My parents must have had nerves of steel to sneak those in so close to sleeping children!  I must admit that as the oldest, I milked the tradition for a few years after I didn't believe in Santa any more, asking Mom & Dad for things from Santa that I knew they didn't want to buy me...knowing they'd do it for the sake of maintaining my sisters' belief Embarrassed

All of the other presents were downstairs under the tree, and from my parents.  Each of us had a tag assigned to us, but we weren't told which was which until Christmas Day -- it was fun to guess, and cut down on present shaking/squishing anticsStick out tongue

  • Santa's presents were always wrapped, unless it was something big, like a bike.  Curiously, Santa had the exact same wrapping paper as my father.  What are the odds?!

Bwahahaha!  I think that's why my parents did the Santa presents in tissue paper and the rest in regular wrapping paperStick out tongue

  • Stockings were from Santa as well as a few unwrapped gifts under the tree on Christmas.  We weren't allowed to come out until our parents came and got us.  It was torture!

  • We open all of our presents on Christmas Eve, so my parents said that Santa dropped off all our presents with them ahead of time.  Then Santa would deliver the presents in our stockings on Christmas Eve, and we would open them on Christmas Day.

  • Assembled and unwrapped, stockings filled, also unwrapped.

Santa was too lazy to wrap gifts at my house. :-)

  • Our gifts from Santa are wrapped in character paper according to each DC's interest. DD knows about Santa now though:( The gifts from us are wrapped in regular Christmas paper. Santa also fills the stockings.
  • Santa gifts were always in Santa themed paper. Still to this day I get gifts from Santa, lol I am 29!     Stockings are stuffed by Santa too.    Mom had my neighbor do all the tags and stashed our presents in his basement since he was an older man who lived alone and he didn't mind.

Most of B's gifts say from Santa and always will...to us it's the fun of the day and the magic (corny I know!)
