Should I bring M back to the pedi?

I brought M to the pedi 5 days ago for this really really nasty cough. Well it turned out not to be in her chest, but in her throat. She also turned out to have an ear infection and we didn't know it (showed no symptoms). She was given an antibiotic and we went home.  You may remember that.

We were sent home with a nebulizer as well, just in case it moved into her lungs. The sound of her cough hasn't changed so I've assumed it hasn't moved. It just hasn't gotten any better either.  So I haven't felt the need to give her the nebulizer.

She has no real fever. Except of course for the low grade (99+) she simmers sometimes.

So wdyt? Bring her back or wait it out a few more days?

  • Never hurts to call them and ask if they want to see her again!

  • I would wait since it has not changed at all.

  • I would wait a few days, especially if she isn't getting any worse. How long is the antibiotic for? If she is now better 2-3 days after the last dose of that, then I would definitely call again, or if you feel the nebulizer isn't working. Hope she feels better soon! You just can't seem to catch a break with Miss M can you?
  • I would probably wait. ?In my experience it can take a long time for coughs to clear. ?If it hasn't changed, I don't think you need to go back at this point. ?But if you're worried, call. ?

No i really can't. It's probably my own fault though. I make it a point to make sure she's involved in a lot of stuff (little gym, playdates, etc). So it helped her come out of her shell, but as really proven to have a profound effect on her immune system. LOL

  • I would maybe do a few treatments & see if it helps.  If anything, they will help her breathe better if she sounds really wheezy, congested, etc.  stella gets 4 nebulizer treatments per day and they really seem to help.
  • I would call. We brought Devan in after 5 days and they put her on a different antibiotic because she still had the ear infection and the first antibiotic didn't do anything. GL
