1. tylenol cold is ok, right??
2. when you called to make your first prenatal appointment, did you call your PCP or your OBGYN? What do you say on the phone when you call them? I've never met my PCP or any OBGYN that I could possibly use, so I'm not sure what to do or say (calling ppl on the phone is very anxiety provoking for me). I know this sounds like such a lame question, but I hope smoeone can understand and hep me..
Re: 2 questions, help is appreciated..
I first saw my gynocologist & he confirmed pregnancy w/ vaginal exam & 2 weeks later, ultrasound. Then he referred me to an OBGYN he recommended.
Not sure about Tylenol cold.
DD1 born 5/24/10.
Missed M/C at 14 wks Feb 2012.
DD2 born 5/14/13.
Missed M/C at 9 wks July 2015.
1. Not sure...
2. I called my OBGYN and said "I believe that I am pregnant and would like to set up an appointment". They asked the date of my last period and some other questions then set up an appointment for when I'm right around the 9 week mark (which is next week). At the time it seemed like forever away, but it's coming up quick. Don't feel anxious about making the call, but you should find a Dr. that you are comfortable with. Some PCPs offer OB care, but I think many will just refer you directly to an OB since it is more specialized. Good luck!
1. I know that tylenol is okay, but I would ask the doctor about tylenol cold before taking it.
2. I called my gynecologist who I had a pre-conception appointment with a few months ago. I called and told the receptionist that I got a positive home pregnancy test and that I wanted to get the blood test to confirm (thats what my doctor said, "call me when you miss your period!"). Then the office set me up for a first appointment.
1. I know Tylenol is OK but I think there are certain types of cold medicines to avoid. I would ask when you call tomorrow (say, "I have a question for the nurse about medication.)
2. I would ask some friends/neighbors/coworkers about OBGYNs/midwives they had good experiences with and then I would call those places and say, "I recently found out I am pregnant, your office was reccomended by a friend, and I would like to set up my first appointment." FYI offices vary trmendously in terms of when the initial appointment is. I have been with two practices (switched because we moved 1000 miles away) and both did not do initial appoinments until 8-9 weeks pregnant. Some women here seem to have appointments very early on, but my practices only saw you early if you were having complications (bleeding, etc.)
Good luck!
1. My Dr. said that Tylenol Cold is fine, just make sure that it's not the nighttime version because nighttime has alcohol in it. I would ask when you call about your appointment.
2. I would call your PCP or your OBGYN and let them know you got a posivite pregnancy test. They will take it from there.
Congrats and good luck!
1. My OB says no to tylenol cold, because cold medicines can raise your bp
2. I haven't had a PCP in a long time, so I called my OBGYN. With DD, I had met him 3 weeks earlier at a routine visit. I told them I had a positive pregnancy test, they asked for date of last menstrual period then scheduled me. You may want to check with your insurance if a referral is needed to see an OB.
1. Not sure about the Tylenol Cold
2. I was planning on changing my OBGYN anyway, so I called the place I was interested in going (have had other friends go there and they all recommend them). I just asked if they were accepting new patients and told them I had had a positive test. They scheduled me an appt for a day or two later to confirm and I just went from there.
I am right there with you on calling people. Family and friends, no biggie, but calling offices or people I don't know too personally gets me all worked up.
I saw my regular Gyno who confirmed the pregnancy and then referred me to an OB in town.
Not sure about Tylenol Cold, you could always double check with you PCP.
