2nd Trimester

Babymoons

Hello All,

I'm still in my first trimester, but I wanted to ask the second trimester ladies if any of you have taken a babymoon or plan to take one? We are thinking about where we might go, but I'm not sure how I am going to feel once the second trimester rolls around. Any of you have a good/bad experience on a babymoon? Anyone wished that they had chosen a different location or activities?

Thanks!

Re: Babymoons

  • our "Babymoon" will consist of us going to AR to visit my 3yo SS. I'll be 27 weeks pregnant. As much as I would love time alone with DH, I am suuuuuper excited to see SS, and have him get used to my belly!

  • In my world babymoons happen before trying to conceive. So with that being said... DH and I went to the Dominican Republic with friends for spring break last year. We then went to Playa del Carmen this summer.

We are thinking of going to Vegas one more time before baby comes.

  • I do NOT suggest that you go New Orleans. We went there for our anniversary at the end of my first trimester, and it is definitely not pregnancy friendly. You can smoke everywhere, and the smells are horrible.

  • We found out that I was preg 6 days before our honeymoon and I spent our 2 week honeymoon in Mexico very sick.  We actually had to come home early...no fun!  That being said, if we take any trips they will be close to home.  I'm also on restricted duty, so that limits things as well as my being off work means not a lot of extra $.  I am thinking about flying to FL to visit my Dad or to TX to visit my Aunt.  Both places I will be able to relax and follow Doc's orders.  It most likely would just be me though, DH has to work.  We've talked about taking a couple days and going to the resort near her that we got married at...does that count as a babymoon?  Let us know what you decide and where you are headed!
  • I don't like the word 'babymoon', but we did a couple weekend trips.

I would plan something for around 22-26 weeks.

  • We are going to Ixtapa, Mexico in early December. I think I'll be around 19 weeks. It's a totally relaxed and chill place to go, nothing like Cancun or Cabo, although we love them too. I am soooo looking forward to it although I don't think it will be the same without a cold Corona and lime mmmmmmm. :(
  • We're going to Southern Florida for a week in Jan. when I'm about 30 weeks. It will be our last trip out of state before the baby is born. We did our major holiday back in June to the Islands where we conceived LO. Getting out of the New England snow is going to be wonderful, big belly or not!
  • We already had a trip planned to the Mayan Rivera in January I'll be about 27 weeks or so, we bought insurance incase we have to cancel and all depends on how I'm feeling, and how the pregnancy is going. Looking forward to some sunshine-will be a quiet trip for me compared to previous ones, but we knew all along it would depend on many many factors! I agree with Ballet-running from the snow regardless is wonderful!!! :)
*Life is a journey,so enjoy the ride*
  • Looking at Dominican Republic or someplace in Mexico for a babymoon around 29 weeks.

If looking, keep in mind you can't go on a cruise late in the pregnancy...the cut off is MUCH sooner than air travel. And travel insurance is probably a really good idea!

  • we just went to the beach for the weekend. ?It was nice. We'll probably just do some weekend getaways for now. ?I wish we could go for a longer trip, but hopefully after the baby is born, maybe in the summer or fall sometime! ?GL with what you decide on doing!
