1st Trimester

another spotting question

So I'm 10 weeks today and I experiences some light brown blood-tinged mucous.  Not really bleeding, but not normal for me.  This is my 2nd pregnancy and I never had anything like that with DS.  It's been an hour and a half and hasn't recurred, no cramping etc.  I've read the books and it doesn't seem like it's abnormal...but I think I need to hear other pg ladies tell me that it;s ok.  Also waiting to see if it happens more today to see if I should call dr.  Anyway...anyone go through this?

Thanks

Re: another spotting question

  • I had that same light brown "discharge" at a little over 7 weeks and called the Dr ASAP. (I had a m/c in Aug at 5 weeks, so I was super afraid the same thing was happening). They put me on prometrium that weekend in case my progesterone levels were low. The nurse assured me I was fine and that it's very normal to spot, and "brownish" spotting is nothing to be concerned about. She ordered me a u/s in case I wanted one (which I did) but I decided to just relax and take her word....My next apt is Nov 16th and I am anxiously awaiting it!

Spotting was gone the next day BTW...

  • Same here, I had that same brown discharge almost at about 7w, and called my OB right away (also because of mc @ 8w last year) and they told me to monitor it, and take it easy.  If it would of changed into heavy bleeding along with bad cramping to call them or go to the ER.  It was gone the next day, and so far so good.  For now just taking it one day at a time.
  • I've been spotting (dark brown/reddish) for 3 weeks now.  My doctor said it's fine, as long as it's not bright red.
  • My OB told me brown is fine, bright red is not.

  • I'm 10 weeks today and the same exact thing happened to me yesterday. It scared me when I first saw it but it hasn't happened again so I'm not worried.

  • I had this all throughout my first pregnancy starting at 8 weeks and it totally freaked me out. Dr. told me it was totally normal as long as it was not bright red. Had a healthy full-term baby!
  • I had this with #1 at 9 weeks.  It lasted 2 days.  I didnt call my MW because I knew it was ok.  Brown blood is old blood.  Call if it turns red and you start cramping.  Good luck!

  • ok..feeling a bit better about it now!  I know it happens, but at 37 yrs old, I just get so nervous about things going wrong.  Thanks ladies!
  • Hopefully it's nothing, but I was told to call my doctor if ANY spotting occurs, just in case.

  • With both pregnancies I had spotting on/off up thru the 2nd tri.  Here's what my dr has said to me...if it's brown then it's old so that's good;  can be brought on by sex, physically overdoing or an internal exam.  If it's bright red, heavy and there's cramping it's a concern.   Sounds like you fit in the first category but if it'll ease your mind call your dr.
