DS has the flu, or at least we think he does. I don't understand why the rapid test misses up to 60% of flu tests. Anyway, they ruled out the other stuff and they think it's H1N1. He's on Tamiflu. I have never seen him so pitiful as in the pedi's office- it broke my heart.

ETA: That should have said flu "cases", not tests. FWIW, we have been really careful with DS. We took him to the pumkin patch in Elgin but never took him out of the stroller. We had a playdate on Wednesday, but the other kids are fine as of lunchtime today. The only other place we've been is my parents house and they are also fine. We must have brought something in from work or DH's school, even though we are always sure to wash our hands. SO frustrating.

DUDE! This is sooo not fair!! It's one thing to have two kids get the flu but at different times?!?! Not fair at all! I hope he's better way sooner than dd recuperated....

It's less accurate the earlier you test. If it's done in the first 24 hours following symptoms (usually the fever), it's less likely to be positive because the viral load isn't high enough (at least that's what our doctors tell our patients!)
