Babies on the Brain

Am I a terrible person?

After the wedding my father drove me 3 hours to have my flowers freeze dried and preserved.  The women was a one woman buisness, she told me it would take at most one year to finish... Our two year anniversary is tuesday...

She NEVER attempted to contact me, I had to do all of that, and she would respond eventually to my emails.  last time she  " played the cancer card"  when I asked her about the progress of my flowers.  She had cancer a few years ago, not presently, but years ago.  Yes, it's wonderful that she is a survivor, but I feel like a *** for thinking htat if she didn't think she could do it should should have told me other wise.  It's not that she needed the money either, it was just a hobby of hers.

Again another 7 months go by with no contact from her.  I woke up this morning very annoyed...  I want to email her again... I will be as nice as possible, but I want to call her out for not following through.

Keep in mind, she has my email, cell phone, my father's cell phone, my flower and my 400 dolloars.  Having the flowers preserved was my dad's personal present to me after the wedding.  He is also upset.

I WANT MY DAMN FLOWERS!

  • You're not a terrible person.  Have you asked her straight up where the flowers are?  I mean, if she didn't do them fairly soon, they died right?  So if they're dead she needs to refund your dad the money.  If they're still being dried (I had no idea it would take that long, but we didn't get mine dried), ask her if she can send a picture of them for you to see how they are doing.

  • And keep me updated!  I'm curious now :)
  • No, you are absolutely not a terrible person for asking about your flowers.  She promised you a service two years ago and took your money to do that service. You have every right to know what is going on with it.

I think Sulfa had a good idea to ask for a picture.

    Good Luck!

Yes, a terrible person.  Don't  you know that you're obligated by law to donate $400 and your wedding flowers to anyone who survived cancer?

i wouldn't let 7 more months go by without contact.  Keep contacting her, in writing, every 2 weeks.

Exactly. She took your money, and owes you the service she promised.

  • My father, who can be a bit neurotic at times, threatened our wedding photographer with a civil suit if he didnt get our album finished.  That got the job done.

  • I would be pissed.  Wedding flowers aren't something to mess around with.

This makes me very glad I ended up going with silk flowers!

  • I sent her a kind email in my opinion.  I did tell her I'm very upset at how things are being handled and how she has never initiaed contact with me...

I also refered to it has her "buisness"... Yes with quites around it... Devil

  • You paid her for this?? I would have hopped on the biiich train exactly one day after my first anniversary. That is ridiculous.

  • It really sounds like your flowers didn't get done at all.  She probably doesn't have an extra $400, to pay you back, so she is buying time.

You aren't terrible, you are too nice.  I would send an ultimatum that you want your flowers in a week or a $400 check.  It has now been 2 years.  Unfortunately you may have to file a claim in small claims court, but you will probably get more than your $400, if your flowers are destroyed.

    Best of luck!

  • BTW, I looked it up and it shouldn't take longer than 3 to 4 months to freeze dry and to mount them in a frame or glass box.

I don't think she deserves your sympathy.
