I have an awesome idea to use my grandmother's wedding dress to make DD baptism gown, but it's ivory not white. What's your opinion on this? The dress is 55 years old and cannot be worn again b/c the top of it is damaged but the rest is in great condition. Would you use ivory?
Of course...great use of an old family momento as well. If/when we have a daughter, my mom is going to make the baptism gown with the shawl that came with my wedding gown, which is ivory.
You should check with your church. When I went to baptism class they stressed the importance of the child being dressed in white to symbolize purity, innocence, etc. You don't want to find out on the day of that your church is strict about that.
Thanks for all of your responses I will definitely check with the church to make sure it's ok. I would have never thought that they would care if it was ivory!
