IMO yes they are to close.

If you only call them by a nickname it could be ok but it could also be to confusing - for instance Izzie and Gabby is ok but I think if one of them is called Bella/Ella it could be confusing.

I think so, yes. That being said, my husband's cousin has an Isabelle and a Gabrielle and they do the Izzy/Gabby thing and it works for them.

I think they're too close by both ending in "Ella" which could be a nickname for either. Gabrielle instead of Gabriella would work better...

I know sisters with those names. I think it's a little close but there are other siblings between them. I think it would get confusing as a parent. My grandmother had enough trouble with having girls whose names both ended in the "ah" sound, according to my mom.
