Ok, so I was scheduled for an induction at 9am on Friday the 23rd. Baby had her own timeline and I woke up at 4:30am with really strong contrax.
I called the Dr. after 3 of them because I was sure this was it. Had one while on the phone and she told me to come straight to the hospital. We grabbed our stuff and waited for MIL to come over to watch DS.
In triage, they couldn't find my prenatal paperwork, made me stand around for 30 minutes before monitoring me on the machine and didn't believe me when I said the baby was coming fast. Once they checked me, I was 2-3cm at 6am. About 30 minutes later, a midwife came in and I was 4cm and my water had broken by itself. The contrax got way worse and I was begging for my epidural.
A nurse came in and tried twice to get an IV started, couldn't get it. They moved me to L&D and another nurse tried and got it on the second try (finally!) So they told me it would only be 15 minutes and I would have my meds. Great.
45 minutes later, no meds...I feel like I have to push, in fact my body was forcing me to push. So the nurse checked, I was only 7cm. She told me that once I felt like that in between contrax that it would be time to push. 3 contrax later, I felt it all the time! So she checked me and I was complete.
She made a hurried phone call for a room set up and for my Dr. They barely made it in the room. I pushed 3 times and Miss Samantha was born. The funny part was that pushing felt good, the really horrible part was between 4-7cm. I would totally loose control and didn't want to feel anything. I was breathing too fast and the nurse was scared I would pass out.
But, I guess it was really a blessing because I was able to get up and walk right away and have felt really great since. The recovery hasn't been as bad as with DS at all.
So, Samantha Alice was born at 9:02am on 10/23, 8lbs, 5oz, 21 inches long.
Re: XP - Med free birth with GD
Wow! Congrats on the fast and med-free birth!
I think it's amazing that she was born at the time she was scheduled to be induced, they really do have their own sense of timing!
