17 week appt. ALSO do you know about....

So, yesterday I had 3 appointments...BUSY BUSY BUSY! 

-Started my progesterone shot (every week until delivery) 

-17 week ob (no u/s :-( but heard my babies which is always a BLESSING)

- BLAH! all the bloodwork!

 

My OB informed me that I would have to go see a specialist for a u/s to see if everything is ok. Does anyone know much about the difference between a regular u/s and a level 2? But she will let us know what we are having! (*fingers crossed* i can get in early next week!)

He also stressed that there are A LOT more problems with multiples (hence seeing the specialist for u/s) and I was wondering how many of you experienced any of these? (i know the obvious ones) but he was talking cardiovascular and such and I am sort of worried. Trying not to be worried and I am thinking the best always!

    I'm no expert, but I can tell you it's terribly important to get tons of rest and take it easy after the first few months. You probably won't feel like you need this--I didn't--but trust me, your body needs to get the pressure of two babies off the uterus! I know this won't be easy, especially if you already have a little one to chase around. But trust me, it's much easier to rest at home and let others help you than it is to be stuck in the hospital on bedrest.

    We were sent to a specialist just to be cautious rather than because they thought anything was wrong.  It seems like that happens to a lot of MoMs... go to a peri just in case.  Nothing ended up being wrong with the girls so we were fortunate, but as with any pregnancy there are risks... multiples are just more risky.  I wouldn't worry.  And like pp said, take it easy and get as much rest as possible.  You AND the babies need it.  GL!

    Glad to hear your appt. went well.

    I've only seen a peri this pg. and I'm considered an uncomplicated multiples pg. I am very, very glad to see the specialist though b/c from weeks 34-38, one of our twins was having growth issues. I was thankful to have the specialist (MFM/peri) doing extra monitoring to ensure their progress. 

    IMO, it never hurts to be extra cautious...esp. in a multiples pg when things can change in an instant, so i went the "just to be on the safe side" route and ultimately am pleased I had a specialist's care this pg.

    HTH and GL with your upcoming u/s! Hope you get to find out the gender(s)!

    I just had what they called a "level 2".  In it they went from head to toe and looked at every bone, organ, facial feature, everything looking for birth defects.  Things like cleft lip, shortened pinky bone, a toe that looks like a thumb, two kidneys, water on the brain, etc.
