I understand where you are coming from, I didnt mind getting preggo again, so I didnt get on b/c, but I also didnt think I would get preggo so fast again, because we didnt protect for the 3 years we were married, and it took us that long to get preggo with our 8 month old, but I did everythhing that chick was saying, not on purpose, but co-slept, exc. BF, no bottles, etc, and I still had periods and got preggo when LO was 4 months, then found out I was preggo when she was 6 months, had to quit bfing cold turkey because there was not enough fluid around the baby, and m/c about 2 weeks ago...... so once again, this is not the case, that you cant get preggo while bfing!

I'm sorry for your loss. I think there is a lot of confusion about BF as birth control.

I'm not disputing the fact that women can (and DO) get pregnant while BF. But it's true that if following those strict guidelines, the chances of getting pg are about the same someone using condoms. The problem is that very few women actually follow all of those guidelines (even if they KNOW about them). I wasnt willing to take that risk so we used other methods even though I was EBF.

Like in your case, you were already menstruating. By these guidelines, that would mean that BF could not be used as a form of BC for you.

And of course, women get pregnant while using other forms of actual birth control all the time too, even on things like the IUD. Hell, even vasectomies fail. But yeah, BF should NOT be used as the only form of BC for most women (and by most, I mean like 98.999%) because most women do not do all the things that would optimize the effectiveness.
