2 baby food raves!

So Elise is pretty much over "purees."  I've been struggling with getting her enough veggies... so I cooked up some frozen peas (by cooking, I mean that I microwaved them in water!) and she scarfed them down!

Also- she's always loved yogurt... that is one of the only foods she'll let me feed her. I starting mixing yogurt with canned pumpkin (super healthy!) and a dash of cinnamon- she loves it! I've also mixed pumkin w/ applesauce.. another fav. Pumpkin is high in fiber and all sorts of vitamins.. and it's super cheap!

Oh.. I have another- tofu!! I buy extra firm and cube it. She'll eat it plain... she also really loves it covered in graham cracker crumbs... it's a great "finger food."

hth!  I'm always looking for new ideas for her. Anyone else have any new foods their babe is loving?

  • I did the whole peas in the mic the other day too!!  I don't think James loves purees at all.  He'll eat apple sauce and sweet potato and that's about it.  I'm having trouble with my picky eater!!!

  • Great ideas Lauren!  I have a picky eater whole only wants to eat things she can pick up.

Kate, does he like avacado?  Luci loves it and could eat a whole avacado at once if I let her.  I don't of course.  I was surprised that super duper over cooked carrots were a hit too.  Green beans not so much b/c she won't swallow them.  She can't chew thru the skin.

I plan to make sweet potatoes and mashed white potatoes tomorrow and Saturday.  Hope they are a hit!

  • So odd, but Sarah's favorite thing right now is mac n cheese mixed with cooked carrots!  She is basically eating from Concordia's lunch menu most days now, they have a little food chopper in the classroom and process it a bit if needed.  She is a big fan of beef stew and chicken and dumplings.  Also, zucchini shredded and cooked until pretty soft (I would have never thought of that!)  Maybe you can try that for another veggie.
  • we've tried: squash, zucchini, peas, carrots, avocado purees and he didn't like them.  But he does eat peas whole and steamed.
