First u/s today.... we saw two sacs, but one was empty. RE said it's a vanishing twin, but I thought that meant it was there and then went away!? The other sac had a healthy 7w baby with a beating heart!! RE said I need to come back in a week to keep an eye on the empty sac to make sure it goes away.... what if it doesn't? It seemed a lot larger than the sac with the baby in it. So I'm very happy but panicky nonetheless!

So sorry to hear about your sad news.
But absolutely thrilled about the little munchkin you did get to see. Hopefully next week clears things up for you. (((hugs)))

Not sure what to do now. Sad and lost.
i too thought that the sac had to have something in it to be "vanishing"--we had a vanishing twin but also a third sac that never had anything in it. anyway--they just kept a close eye to make sure that the baby was growing well bc the vanishing twin sac was there for a long time--until around 20 weeks i think.
i'm glad your baby is doing well--and sorry about the loss.

I'm really sorry for your lost twin. I'm currently going through the same thing and I know it's a bittersweet feeling. At my 1st U/S at 6 weeks there was a ges. and yolk sac and they warned us of the vanishing twin. At my last appt. this week, I was 9 wks. The sacs were there but much, much smaller. They said it would continue to dissolve and I'd probably have little to no signs.
At the same time, I'm really happy for your healthy, growing baby and wish you nothing but the best. Hugs!
