When do you introduce sippy cups? Any recommendations for a particular one to get? DH recently bought DD a nalgene one which is huge and so far I've been letting her use it as a play toy - but its gotten me wondering about actually letting her trying to drink. She's totally fascinated with watching DH and I drink currently.
Re: When to Introduce the Sippy Cup
We introduced it somewhere between 6-7 mos. with no big expectations. We always filled it up all the way so she didn't have to tilt it as much to get a drink, but didn't actually let her drink a full cup (not that she would have anyway). She was doing pretty well with it by 8-9 mos. and was drinking from cups exclusively (no more bottles) around 10 mos.
We use the Nuby No Spill Gripper. We started out with the Avent sippy cups, but they were leaky and she didn't like the spout. We then tried the Nuby sippy cups because they have a soft spout and no valve (which I preferred), and we all ended up liking these better. She also always seemed to not like the handle cups. Nuby's have some with and some without. We used the ones without.
ETA: Thought I would clarify about when I said she was drinking exclusively from cups at 10 mos. We started out by practicing with water a couple time day from like 6-9 mos. and then when she had the hang of it around 9 mos. we started offering milk (formula or BM) in the sippy cup. At 10 mos. we put the bottles away and just let her drink all of her milk from the cup.
