Stupid costume question...opinions please

Connor is going to be Boots and I'm going to be Dora.  I have searched high and low, practically everywhere and can not find a pair of orange shorts that will fit me.  Do you think it would be ok if I wear black shorts and put a black bat on the front of my pink shirt and be "Halloween Dora"?  I even thought about making a little black witches hat for Backpack.  Dumb or good idea?
