Are you going to go "all out" for Halloween?

I have been waiting and waiting for DD to be old enough so that I can do "theme days." Tomorrow I'm going to do pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin sandwiches, mini pumpkin pies, everything! I am so excited! I used to do that with my students and am so glad DD is old enough to get it!

Anyone else a dork like me?!

  • Well as you can see in KU's wkd post were doing a lot to celebrate but I hadnt thought of that kind of stuff. Hmmm.

  • I must be a dork too, because I love that and it seems like FUN to me! Although, it will be such a busy day for us tomorrow, the only thing I have is some Pillsbury ready-to-bake ghost cookies to make.
  • no. i would love to think of those kinds of things.  but i don't. i'm not creative enough i guess.

plus i went through publix twice last night looking for pumpkin and couldn't find any.  wha?

  • Well, we don't do that type of stuff for Halloween, really. It's definitely not my favorite holiday at all. I pretty much just tolerate it for the kids' sakes. But, today the kids are coming to my work at 1 pm to trick or treat there and do face painting and portraits. Tomorrow, we'll go to a Halloween party at the community garden near our house, and then the big kids will trick or treat around the neighborhood while the girls stay with me and help me hand out candy (in costume).
  • Not for Halloween, but I am for Christmas.  Both my DH and I love the holiday and we go all out for it!!

For Halloween, though we live on a rural road and have no trick-or-treaters, so its hard to get psyched up to decorate, etc.  But it's fun because we all get to trick or treat together!  No one has to stay home to hand out candy.

I do always make my kids' costumes from scratch.  This year my DD (age 9) is Mew, the Pokemon, and my son is a superhero butterfly (his imaginary alter ego).  My DD's parade is in 4 minutes at school -- she was totally jazzed this morning when we took her to the bus stop!
