Pregnant after a Loss

nicobean

Hey there! The Lovenox injections aren't that bad for me. I make DH do them. I only have to have them once a day, so we do them in the mornings before I get dressed. I'm a bit bruised, but it's not awful. We seem to have found a few spots where it doesn't hurt as much AND where I don't bruise much.

It's so amazing when I get blood drawn now just how my blood flows and how there is actually a spot of blood on the bandaid they use. Before I would clot pretty much instantly.

Why are you on Lovenox again? How's it going for you?

  • Hey lady! I'm glad you've found some spots that don't bruise too much. I'm homozygous MTHFR+ and my OB suspects that's why I had the m/c in April, so she's taking every precaution. I was doing a 40mg injection 2x a day, but I had a bleeding episode immediately follwing my 8 week U/S, so she had me cut back. So I inject 1/2 the shot in the morning and the other 1/2 a night. It's going fine, but I've found that if I inject anywhere on my left side (belly, bum), it hurts more and on my belly I've had 2 huge purple bruises from injecting on that side. So I do my hip and bum on my right the most.

That's funny about your blood draws now. I guess that was probably the same for me, but I never thought about it. Are you on a baby aspirin, too?

Glad to hear things are going well with your M/W. It's about time that you found a caregiver who would listen and respond to you like you need her to!

  • Well I tend to notice with the blood draws because I had a breakdown when I got my flu shot a few weeks ago. The woman gave me the shot, turned away, and then had no idea where to put the bandaid because I'd totally clotted already! I was really upset that here was real evidence but no one was paying attention.

I really think I have my OB Medicine doctor to thank for everything. She is the one that prescribed the Lovenox, and then she wrote a LONG letter to my midwife to explain everything. She is really great. And, yeah, I love this OB/midwife office SO much more than my last office. I have been thinking of calling the last office just to tell them how much I hate them, lol.

Yes, I'm still on the baby aspirin as well. My hematologist was sort of on the fence about it, but I figured I'm not bleeding excessively at this point, so why not?

DH has hit a nerve a few times, but, really, it's been going really well. Surprisingly so even! We inject in the love handles, alternating sides every day. I haven't tried my bum yet! The doctor did suggest the thighs when my belly gets big.

  • That's so great that you found a great OB then, too, and it sounds like you're finally in good hands! I love my OB, too. It makes all the difference, doesn't it? I wanted to have my hand held and be babied, and I am. That's just what the doctor ordered!

I haven't had a flu shot yet. Since I'm on house arrest and I work from home anyway and am seeing almost noone, she said to wait until after the first tri. DH needs to get one, though. This is the first time he's worked in an office in 10 years (he telecommuted until he took this new job in May), and I know he's exposed to so many more germs and then bringing them home. Are you going to get the H1N1 vaccine, too?

I hadn't thought about injecting in my thigh. Guess that's what's next! Oy!

  • Yes, I'm on the waiting list for the H1N1 at my doctor's office. I'm not freaking out like I need it now, so I don't mind waiting until they have it. Until then, it's just all Purell for me, lol. I have an office job, but I do interact with a lot of different people and I work in a huge building. I just try to be conscientious though.

What do you do that you get to work from home?

  • That's a good idea. Just watch out for anyone coughing to close to you! :)

I work for an au pair agency, and our offices are based out of Boston. We have field staff all over the country, so I'm lucky to work from home that way. It's been a lifesaver with the whole bedrest piece. My life isn't a whole lot different. Ha!

What do you for work? Will you go back to work?
