Christmas card/birth announcement

Im just wondering if you guys think its stupid to do her birth announcements with a Christmas theme? I probably wont mail the announcements until shes like 2 weeks old and that would bring me into December. I dont care if I do two I was just thinking of saving some cash and making things a little easier.

Re: Christmas card/birth announcement

  • We're doing a Christmas card/birth announcement.  We can't afford to do both at the same time of year!

  • this is what we planned on doing :) waiting till we get back the newborn pics and then getting the cards made will hopefully take until december :)
  • I'm planning to do a combo, and my EDD isn't until Jan. 12th.  Or I may just skip the Christmas card and just do a birth announcement, with a family pic included.  It just didn't make good financial sense for us to do two big mailings (about 100 on my Christmas card list) so close together.

I say a Christmas theme would be perfectly fine.  Or just do a birth announcement and skip Christmas cards.  Surely no one you know would expect both so close together!  People really just want to see pictures of your kid(s).  I don't think they care if it says "Merry Christmas" or not.

  • I'm kinda hoping my LO comes early so we could do the same thing!
  • I don't think that is a big deal at all.  In fact, I think people would appreciate a picture of your LO.

  • we are doing this!! LO is due the  day after thanksgiving, so it makes sense for us to do a combined card! im pretty excited... our first christmas card as a family :)
  • We are also doing a holiday birth announcement.  They have them online.  If you are planning on ordering them.
  • That's what we're doing, and our LO will be here a good month before Christmas! I always appreciate any opportunity to kill two birds with one stone (and save money on postage and getting the announcements printed!)
  • I'm due Dec. 25, and will probably skip Christmas cards before the holidays, then when I send announcements I'll add a "Hope you've all had a great holiday season."
  • we are doing her birth announcement/christmas card as one.  I don't know if you registered at target or not but in the welcome bag from them you get a $20 gift card to shutterfly and that is where we are getting ours from.

  • I plan on doing a two in one.  It just makes sense seeing that those who would be getting a Christmas card also would get a birth announcement.
  • We're doing a combo!

I didn't like the standard options that were available so am having Swish Designs on etsy design it for me (she's a nestie/bumpie) and then getting them printed at Costco ($15 for 50).  And then I'm planning to include a short Christmas letter because this year has had a lot of change for us :)

  • We are doing this! Family photo with the baby as our xmas cards. We aren't sending separate announcements, as it would be the SAME time as xmas cards.
  • I think it's a great idea!
  • This is what we're doing. I'm having a c-section on Dec 1st so it would be crazy to try to do separate birth announcements and Christmas cards. I found some cute ones online.

  • I just bought Christmas cards at Target that you slide a photo into.  My mom will take a good picture of the 3 of us after we're home and settled.  I'll probably put a little card inside with all of his stats for family and friends that want to know that stuff.

  • this is what we're doing. I think it would be so cute.
  • We did a blue and brown announcement from tinyprints that said "our precious christmas blessing" and had snowflakes on the background. So it was boyish and wintery all in one. Ds was born Dec, so the cards didn't go out till after Christmas.

  • DD was born 11/9 last year and we did a Christmas themed birth announcement.

It said, "In this season of miracles, we introduce ours..." and then had all of her stats!

  • Being due in mid-December, I think I'm going to skip the Christmas cards this year and send a combination Happy New Year card/birth announcement. So no, I don't think it's stupid. I think it's practical. :)
