Here on thebump, on my checklist is to pre-register at the hospital. Seems WAY to early to be doing that. Have any of you pre-registered? When do you think is an appropriate time?
Our Hospital requires that you pre-register before 26 weeks...I've filled out the form and will be mailing it in the morning. As far as timing it really depends on your hospital. My OB's office provided me with the Pre-Registration Packet.

Myomectomy ~ June 2011
Huh? I've never heard of this! My ob is connected with the hospital. The only papers I had to sign were for my epidural and my csection. All my information was already in their system. They just needed my name and birthdate.
You pre-register so that you don't have to fill out paperwork when you get there. It has nothing to do with your doctor being affiliated with a hospital. The hospital needs your information.

Yep ... I already preregistered ... I think it was 18 weeks ... doesn't really matter when you do it ...too early is not necessarily an issue ... your information is just going into the system and sits there until its ready to be used ... oh and your doctors affiliation has nothing to do with it ... my doctor is affiliated with the hospital that I"m delivering at ... a block from their practice ... I registered everything online and while I was in the area shopping (right off of Michigan Avenue ) I just went in and signed one form ... done.
i was given a form to pre-register at my first appointment (my ob gyn is inside the hospital i'll be delivering at) and told to fill it out and mail it or bring it in as soon as i get the chance. i probably won't be doing it for a little while since i'm only 13 weeks. you never know what may happen & filling out paperwork in the midst of the chaos is just too much to think about. i figure i'll go ahead and do it around 25 weeks or so just in case, since i know i'll be so tied up in other things the further along i get.

hmmm, i never filled out paperwork until after the birth! i wonder if my hospital just used the obs info??
My OB provided me the pre-registration form for the hospital on our first doctors visit and instructed me to send it in to the hospital at 20 weeks. So now whenever the time comes, I already did the paper work for the hospital.
I'm 21 weeks, have already booked my c/section, and had an appt with my OB yesterday. Nobody has mentioned anything about pre-registering yet.
I live in a small-ish town, with a big hospital (the major center for the region), and a lot of local medical stuff already goes thru the hospital system. Between my gyn and the bloodwork I had for work insurance/pension plan last year, I know I'm already in there. Maybe I won't have to preregister?

I got the preregistration form from my doctor at my first prenatal visit. The info from the hospital said to turn it in in your 4th month. I'm a little behind, its on my list to do this weekend. I finally picked a ped. and have been waiting to enter that the form.
i just did mine this wk bc if i dont do it now ill forget and i did now bc they also have birth by design at my hospt. where you get to pick from a robe and slippers ,spa gift cert. or babies r us gift cert. and then either a pizza party for you and the siblings or special dinner for you and you hubby/partner. so i did that all so that i can also have all that set to so when it gets closer they can call me and set it all up.
Re: When are you going to pre-register?
I did it a few weeks ago.

Last time, my OB gave me the paperwork sometime before the end of my second trimester.
You can ask your doctor at your next appointment to see when they handle it.
