Pregnant after a Loss

Poll: Male/Female Gyno?

Just curious how many of us have female vs. male gynos. I personally would not feel comfortable with a male (esp seeing how I can't even trim below anymore, lol!)[Poll]

  • I'm in a group practice, so I have both.  That wasn't an option on the clicky!

  • I have an all female practice right now, but I have been with two other practices in the past both of which had male doctors. It doesn't bother me at all. All have been very professional.

  • My practice has 6 doctors - 3 male and 3 female.  So it's luck of the draw.  I feel REALLY uncomfortable with male OB's.  The only time I've seen one was with my m/c and it was a horrible experience.  He did not have my best interest in mind.  Pretty much reminded me why I try and stick with the ladies.  I haven't seen any male docs in my current practice yet but I know it's inevitable.
  • My primary OB is male, and I love him! I also see his associate when he's not available & she's just as good.

  • I hear you on the lack of maintnance Babs!  I shave blindly and usually end up cutting myself...I can't not do anything, but I'm scared to wax!

I know, I wish I wasn't such a scaredy cat and I would wax! I think I'm gonna have DH go at it with his trimmers this weekend...

I've been begging mine to do this for weeks...he told me he's scared that bats will fly out. I'll have to force him soon!!

  • I go to a group practice and there are 2 females there but I have only met one of them and that was only one time because the male I normally see was not scheduled that day.  She did my pap smear at 12 weeks and it was the most painful one I've ever had.

From miscarriages, a diagnosis of a bicornuate uterus, and fibroid removal surgery...It's been quite the journey but it was all well worth it. Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

  • I have all female OBs these days, but before we moved I had a male OB.  He was wonderful.  He saw me through my miscarriage and was very understanding and always ultra professional.  I didn't think I would be comfortable with a male GYN, but after that experience it really doesn't bother me.  As long as the GYN is professional and knows what they are doing, I am happy.

  • I have always had female gynos... but my perinatologist is a man.  He has yet to fully examine me... he leaves that up to the lady assistants.  I'm totally nervous about my big internal checks... as I have never had a man doctor beforeEmbarrassed

  • I've always had a male doctor (family and OB/GYN) and it has never bothered me. It's a doctor people. He really doesn't care if you're trimmed waxed or not - they have seen it all and I can pretty much guarantee they look past all that.

I spend my days looking in ears and I can't tell you how many times people say - "oh, but I didn't clean my ears".  I really don't even see it. I'm looking to see if you have a healthy functioning ear.  I'm sure the doc is just the same.

I had male docs through both miscarriages and all were super lovely and caring.

  • I'm is an all female practice and wouldn't feel comfortable any other way.
  • My practice has mostly male ob's, and I am totally comfortable w/ it! Actually I almost think I prefer them sometimes, they seem to be more to the point and direct. The only part I don't like is that when they do examine you, they have a female nurse come in and stand in the room... that part kinda bothers me.

  • Well, I guess I could end up w/ a male delivering the baby since it's a group practice, but my regular dr. is female. My last OB was a male, and both my DH and I actually really liked him. He switched out of doing OB and I felt like a female would be helpful to have as a dr. She's great!

  • I go to a practice where there are about 10 female OBs.  All the nurses and staff are women.  No men around except patients' husbands.  I love it!
  • My midwife is a lady, the OB she works with is her husband.
