2nd Trimester

Calling all who have gained at least 20 pounds so far!

Just curious how many people on here have gained 20 pounds or more so far.  I was 5'3"/120 pre-preg and I'm now 142.  According to this link, I'm pretty much on track to gain 35 pounds.  I eat healthy about 80% of the time and am excercising at least 3 times a week, so I know this is what my body needs.

Everyone posts about how little they've gained or if they've gained a lot they post about gaining 7 at 20 weeks and freaking out.  I just wanted to give those people who have gained at least 20 the chance to come forward and see that we're not alone and are on track for what our bodies need.  :-)

Of course everyone's different, and I'm sure everyone else is on track for what their body needs, but as someone mentioned before no one really posts that has gained 20 pounds or more yet.

  • i have gained 12 already so i am sure i will be at 20 when i am as far along as you.

i gained 37 for my first and it was not a big deal.  2 weeks post partum i had alreay lost 20.

this is the one time in my life that i dont stress about weight!

  • At my 24 week appt. I'd gained 22.5lbs. I had a healthy BMI to start so my Dr. isn't worried... I'm more stressed about it than she is!
  • I have gained somewhere between 7-12 pounds depending on the time of the day and when one starts counting weight gain. Personally, I'm not paying too much attention to my weight gain. I worked out ~4-5 times a week before getting pregnant and plan to go back to it after birth. Right now I will gain whatever I need to for a healthy baby - whether that is 10 or 30 pounds. Obviously people shouldn't go overboard and eat a ton of junk/crap food, but I hope no one feels bad if they have gained a lot!

  • I am 5'7" and 154 pre-pregnancy and I now weigh 185. UGGGGHHHH!!! I don't eat ANY differently than I used to, just more. I'm sure that's not great but I figure what the heck! I'll just go on a diet after the baby is born. I don't think I look like I weigh 185 though. It's all in my belly, boobs and butt.

  • I have gained 19!! I started out heavier than you too though! I'm not going to give an exact weight but I will hit 200 well before I'm finished! that scares the hell out of me!!

I'm gonna be there too! The weight calculator I found online has my ideal weight at 209 for when I give birth. I'm taller (5' 8") but it still stresses me because DH is like 215 and he's 6' 3"!

  • Oh I love that website so much better than the Indian Curry one or whatever it's called.  That one was saying I was 5 pounds over what I should be but this new one is saying I'm just right.  Fine by me.  So far I've gained 15 pounds.
  • I'm on my way to 20.  I'm not too worried about it.  My Dr. doesn't seem too worried about it either. My Mom had gained 60 lbs with me and was back in her pre-pregnancy clothes two weeks after giving birth to me.

  • Thank you so much for posting this site. At 22 weeks I have gained about 13 pounds and was worried it was too much.

18 cycles (3 with our RE) - Metformin + Clomid + HCG booster did the trick!

  • I'm at about 19 right now.  I'm 2 weeks behind you, so I'm sure I'll be at 20 or more by then!  I'm not worried.  Doc said it was great.

  • At my 22wk appt yesterday I found out that I have gained 33 lbs so far- I am 5'3 & pre-pregnancy was 118lbs.  I gained alot of weight pretty quickly & until yesterday my doctor & I were not really that concerned. But, she ended up putting me on the diabetes dietSad

I don't even have my 1 hour glucose test until my next appt- 26wk but my glucose level in my urine was a little out of control.

  • I dont know if I qualify but I can say I am amazed at how big I have gotten and how much I weigh so far.  I am normally about 130-135lbs at 5'7" and at 4 weeks I was 140 and at 12 I am 145 and climbing.  My belly popped so much so fast that I was in maternity pants since week 4.  I always had a flat stomach so this is quite the adjustment.  Its exciting though....little different than any other kind of weight gain.
  • Right here with ya!

  • I know I'm a little different since I'm having twins, but I was at 17lbs at my 20 week appt, which my Dr was very happy with.

  • I've gained exactly 20 pounds. I gained 3 in my first tri, 7 from week 13 to 16 and 8 from week 16 to 20 and 2 pounds from week 20 to week 24
  • Thanks for showing up girls!  I knew you were out there!
  • i am 17 weeks and 5 days and i have gained about 15 pounds so far. pre-pregnancy i was 5'5" 130 pounds. everyone is different and our bodies are changing as they need to. i have noticed that most people just post about not gaining any weight... i am definitely not in that category!

you have such a cute baby bump!Smile

  • I love this post!  And I agree, that indiancurry website sucks.  I've gained 14 pounds so far (almost 20 weeks) and that website says I'm like 4-5 pounds overweight now.  I started at 139 prepregnancy and am 5'5"...not the skinniest I've been but still a healthy bmi.  I'm just trying to eat when I'm hungry... and not all junk and whatever happens happens!  It stinks I'm standing up in a wedding a little less than two months past my due date..that stresses me out just because I need to fit into that dress!

  • I'm 17 weeks and have gained about 16 pounds. I started off with a healthy BMI and my midwife is not worried at all. She said that everyone gains differently and my weight gain will probably taper off. I also eat healthy about 80-90% of the time and work out, so I know that I'm not making unhealthy choices.
  • Ive gained 21 lbs so far! Oh well....weight shouldn't be such of an issue with pregnancy! We all gain differently!
