The name Henry

I notice that quite a few of you have DS with that name.  Is Henry becoming more popular now?

Re: The name Henry

  • I don't know the actual ranking of it, but I am hearing it more.  I think a lot of more traditional, old-fashion names like that are big again.  We considered it, but decided on Benjamin and Eli.

  • SUPER popular around here. My mom is pushing it since it was my dad's twin's name (my "uncle" Henry died when he and my dad were 2).  I like the name  a lot but the association with my departed toddler uncle gives me the willies).

  • It's still on our short list.
  • My DH wanted to name him Hank, but I prefered Henry using Hank as a nn.

  • My best friend's middle son is Henry and he's four. Four years ago, he was the only baby Henry I knew. But since then, it seems to have gotten a lot more popular.

  • I think it's a regional thing... haven't heard it anywhere here where I live... but yeah, there are a few of us on the board.

  • Seems to be, much like Jack and Will a few years ago. But this was my boy name ...always has been. Actually I always wanted to name my son Jack Henry (my beloved grandfather was Jack), and call him by both names, but DH is not at all fond of double names. He liked Jack and Henry but not together. So we decided on Henry (his middle name is Lloyd, after DH's grandfather)...it was really the only name we seriously considered. I will say I see a ton of Henrys on The Bump lately but know none IRL. It doesn't seem to be all that popular around here. Our girl name, Eleanor, seems to be growing in popularity as well. These older, classic names seem to fade in and out. It makes a bit sad that it seems to be more common these days, but I don't mind sharing it with these beautiful SAIF ladies. Maybe we should do a Henry GTG sometime! :)
  • Really popular where I live.

  • I think it is, unfortunately, becoming more popular. We really like Henry, and planned on it for a boys name....but EVERYONE in our family hates it. We still may use it...but if we don't it'll be because of how popular it's gotten.

Ditto. It seems like the name is definitely making a comeback recently. I have noticed all the babies named Henry around the boards, but I don't know any IRL.
