3rd Trimester

At what point will your doc induce?

Just curious. My doc said this week that if I get 14 days past my due date then we'll talk about induction. That seems like it's waiting too long to me. I was thinking 5 days and let's get it done.
siggy should be here!

Re: At what point will your doc induce?

  • At 41 weeks (which in our case is the day before Thanksgiving). I think I will see if she would be willing to induce a couple days early if we end up going past our due date. I really want to be home for Thanksgiving with our LO.

  • my doc will induce at any point after due date, but not exceed past 41w6d. average is about 41w.
  • My OB will go up to two weeks after my due date, as long as everything is fine.
  • I'm 10 days overdue and we are just talking induction at our appointment tonight.  We will probably schedule it for Monday which will be 14 days past EDD.  Just as it's normal to have a baby any time after 37 weeks, it's normal to be 2 weeks late..... I wouldn't worry about it unless there is some medical reason to get the baby out early.  Once you get closer to 2 weeks overdue you get calcification of the placenta, lower amniotic fluid levels, baby gets too big, etc.
  • 2 weeks past due date for my MW.

  • 12 days past.  They won't let me go 14 days past.

  • I thought 2 weeks, but when I asked, she said she only allows you to go 8 days overdue.
  • I meant to ask but forgot.

  • Mine will wait up to 2 weeks as well.  He'll induce after 40 weeks if the mom wants to, but in cases like mine (I want a natural birth) he's ok with waiting until 42 weeks.

  • My NP said no earlier than 41 weeks so Im hoping he comes out before but if not so be it. He will be here when he gets here!

  • My doctor said one week late and we'd discuss. I will say though that I will probably wait 2 weeks late before inducing because I've read that it increases your chance of c-sect which for whatever reason, scares me to death. I don't care if it's just a small percentage increase...I want as little chance of having to have a c-sect as possible.
  • 42 weeks unless there is a medical reason to do it earlier.

  • My doctor was willing to induce at 4 days past my due date, only because if our infertility issues and knowing the exact dates of conception. As of right now we're planning on inducing next Tuesday 10 days after my due date. I didn't want to rush right in to being induced, but give my body a chance.

Her standard is 2 weeks unless medically necessary.

  • 5 days past my due date, so right around Thanksgiving.
  • MW won't let me go over 41 weeks (thank god!)

  • Once I hit 41 weeks, they schedule the induction for sometime in the following 7 days, so I would not be allowed to go any more than 14 days past due. She explained that a typical pregnancy is anywhere from 37-42 weeks, so going 14 days past due is perfectly fine, but after that there are risks associated with it.
