Parenting after a Loss

update on my baby

I posted last week about Kate's infection...long story short...the pedi we were going to totally misdiagnosed her.... the infection got soo much worse last weekend so i called the pedi on monday morning to see if there was a different medication we could try or if he could refer us to an infectious disease doctor...never heard anything back until 4pm that day! By that time we had already gotte her into see a new pedi and the minute she looked at Kate's infection her eyes got really big and said "this is serious!" Kate has a very very serious staph infection on her labia, it has eaten away the skin on the left one and has made a large hole. I keep thanking the Lord that we got there literally just in time...had we waited any longer the infection would have gone into her bloodstream and become septisemia. She gave her a shot of rocephin right then and perscribed 2 new antibiotics. I showed her what the previous pedi had her on and she said to throw it away, it wasnt going to do anything for this infection. Needless to say, we are never going back to the first pedi!!!!! We are so blessed that Kate is ok...she is still really sick and we have a ways to go but she is on the mend. We took her back to the doc yesterday and today for more rocephin shots...this has been such a rollercoaster. I am so worn out but will not give up or rest until this infection is killed and my baby girl is healed! Really made me realize how important second and 3rd opinions are!!! SO important!

She has a hole on her left labia....its the most horrible thing you have ever seen. The infection literally ate away her skin... It is already starting to repair itself since starting the CORRECT medications on monday. Praise the Lord. My poor baby! Its horrible!!
