Frustrated w/charting & a ? (TMI)

I'm starting to get frustrated with the whole charting thing. My schedule just isn't regular enough to temp at the same time each day. I'm usually no more than an hour off, but FF still gives me the open circles.

This cycle I finally got the solid coverline and O day (last time I got a dotted line because I had one day where a small amount of EWCM showed up). So today I am 6dpo according to FF. Last night I was having awful allergies and was really stuffed up so when I woke up I noticed I had been breathing through my mouth. I temped anyway, but it gave me a really low reading. So I waited a minute and took my temp again and got a much higher reading. So which temp do I use?? If I use the first I will definitely drop below the coverline but I'm not sure if it's accurate since I had been breathing through my mouth.

Then (totally TMI alert!!)

I used the bathroom and notice a huge amount of EWCM. I have never ever seen that much before. I actually said "whoa!" when I saw it. What does this mean? Could FF be wrong about my O day? I don't get it.

Any advise is appreciated and sorry for the TMI! Embarrassed

It wounds like you could be ovulation today. If your temp didn't go way up and with having another time of EWCM it is possible that FF mistook your current readings for one that you have already ovulated. I would have sex just to be sure.

can i peak at your chart? can you provide the link?

are you using OPKs or anything else to try and verify ovulation?

remember that your temps can't get you pg... only sex can. when in doubt, have sex. I would just keep trekking, and have sex tonight to be sure.

if temping isn't working for you, try just charting CM and using OPKs or CBEFM or something. I sometimes get caught up over 1 temp, but being off one day doesn't change my overall pattern. and one temp below the CL doesn't mean you are NOT pg.

yeah, I'm only temping and monitoring CM. I haven't actually broken down and bought the opks. they seem so expensive at the store.

ETA: the link is to my chart with the first temp I took this morning, not the second. The second temp (less than a minute later) was 97.7

also, i just want to add that TTC is frustrating. I've been complaining about it a lot this week too.. i had some unusual spotting mid-cycle, pre-ovulation. it only lasted a couple days, and i just have to go with it and see what happens... hang in there

also, i recommend early-pregnancy-tests.com for OPKs, I bought 25 for about $30 a couple months ago and they have lasted me 3 cycles.

I always had a hard time temping, I would forget or not do it first thing in the morning...

I found that monitoring my CM along with OPKs worked the best for me. And like L said, when in doubt have sex, anytime I saw any increase in CM I'd consider that a good time for sex.

For OPKs I ordered them off Ebay, I got 25 for $9.95 with 5 free pg tests. So it was a great deal!

Temping frustrated the CRAP out of me, no lie. Checking CM was never consistent and I finally broke down and started using a borrowed CBEFM to see what was going on -- and it turns out I had very predictable ovulation patterns that I was just not seeing with normal temping/CM checks.

Maybe you can borrow a monitor from someone here, and then get a pack of strips from Amazon? (They're much cheaper there than Walgreens, etc.)

For cheap OPK's Walgreens has some, I think the brand is Answer, and you get 20 to a box and i think it was $9. It was super helpful for me because I didn't have the time to chart and I learned that I O on day 9 of a 35 day cycle, how crazy is that. I seriously would have only gotten pregnant on my own by sheer dumb luck.

I couldn't temp for baby #2, since I was still night nursing. So I used an OPK for just a month to confirm the data from my CM, cervical height, opening, and softness. When I knew I was assessing those right, I stopped using the OPK.

Anya, I do think you ovulated when FF says. The cross hairs went dotted b/c of the EWCM, but there is still a clear thermal shift after CD13. Watch what happens the next few days. Also, looks like your later sleeping on weekends (I'm assuming thats what those other open circles are about) are not affecting your overall pattern, so thats good.

Sometimes when I take 2 temps close together, I average them.

Thanks so much! Like TCOYF says, sometimes it's hard to see the forest for all the trees. My temp went back up today, but am still having the large amounts of EWCM. I'm not really sure what to make of that but oh well... next cycle I'll confirm ovulation with OPKs just to make sure.
