Am I the only one who only got 6 wks off work? I feel cheated! This is my first wk back at work and to be honest I am not doing so well. Just wish I could have had more time with LO. I feel like I have abandoned him

My old job was only going to give me 6 weeks (unpaid...), but I accepted a new job and told them I would be taking 8 weeks. Still not enough IMO. I'm not ready to go back next week!!!

I had STD benefits for 6 weeks and then saved enough to allow me to take 4 more. I go back next week and hate it. This is my second time and I am having a hard time with it. SUCKS!

I also have 6 weeks. I could have taken more but it would not have been at full pay and we couldn't afford to lose ? any pay.?

I only have one more week with LO. Boy this time went SOOO fast.

Thankfully my mom is watching him ?days a week so he only needs to be in daycare 3 days. But I know it will be really hard for me to leave him.?

All workplaces are only gonna give you 6 weeks off since thats what a doc will disable you for for a vag delivery. If your work is covered by FMLA, you can take up to 12 weeks off if you have additional vacation time - or are taking time off w/o pay. I'm taking 4 weeks of vaca and 2 weeks w/o pay in addition to my 6 weeks STD.

I don't know how you Americans manage. I think it's practically criminal to force mothers to leave a baby this young to go back to work if they don't want to.

I mean, if you want to go back to work more power to you, but those who want more time should have the option.

I only got 6 weeks paid STD. I saved enough vacation to have 4 more paid weeks, and I'm taking the last two weeks unpaid. I go back to work next Friday and still don't feel like I had enough time. Sorry you had to go back already.

I took 6 1/2 weeks off. I could have taken more but it would have been unpaid, so I went back. I went back half days my first week to ease in. I still hate it not being with her everyday, but I got lucky and my aunt is watching her, so no daycare for me!

I too went back at 6 weeks. Work paid me nothing (and I used up my PTO on 5 wks of bedrest) but I had disability which paid me 50% for those 6 weeks. I was super bummed to go back so early. Next time I hope to save some more so I can stay home at least 8

I only get 6 weeks off. 5 weeks paid one week unpaid. I took one extra week off using my vacation time.

I have to go back in a few weeks and I'm dreading it!

I only took 6 weeks off and 3 of them were unpaid. I could have taken up to 12 but it would have all been unpaid and we just couldn't afford that.

I took 8 weeks FMLA paid for c-section, then 6 weeks NJ family leave paid, then 2 weeks unpaid...NJ may be one of the first states to offer 6 weeks paid leave, after your initial 6-8 weeks, for bonding time

Thanks ladies at least I know I'm not the only one. I too could have taken more time just simply could not afford it. To all those with more than 6 wks...enjoy them!

I wish all states would offer this...we are lucky!
