what is causing this pain?????

So Dr. isn't open yet so i thought i would shoot out this question on here... my whole left side of my pelvis hurt bad. from the butt to the front hip bone. REALLY bad when walking and last night when i tried to get comfortable with a pillow between my legs i was in tears from the pain.... it's like a dull deep pain mixed with an occasional charlie horse feel.

anyone deal with this? On only one side?

Re: what is causing this pain?????

  • It could be the baby's position.  Was she head down previously?  If not, maybe she just turned head down.  At 28 weeks I had terrible crotch pain that shot into my abdomen and went to L&D.  All that could be explained was that it could have been the baby's position.  Everything else was fine.

  • Sciatica possibly
  • baby has always been head down but i think she's dropped, so that might have something to do with it... it really sucks!

  • Sciatica.  It is usually 1 sided and if your baby just dropped, she may be sitting on your sciatic nerve.  It could be some form of round ligament pain.  I'm not as familiar with that.

If it is sciatica, ask you OB for a referral to a physical therapist.  I've had to go 2 times a week since 20 weeks with this pregnancy.  With DS, it started EARLY and I had to go starting at 10 weeks!  Just be glad you haven't had it until now!

btw - some women like chiropractors for SI pain, but to lure you to the PT side, it feels like getting a 30 min massage twice a week.  Don't get me wrong, I love my chiropractor, but for THIS issue, you should see a PT.

I agree, I have been seeing a Physical Therapist and it has been wonderful.  I had pain on one side for a long time and it turned out that my hip was rotated and the pelvic bone and tail bone were out of place.  We now have my hip bone and tail bone back in place, but the pelvic bone keeps popping out of place because my muscles are too tight.  Don't wait too long, pain over a long period of time is what is causeing my muscles to do what they are doing.  I was in pain while walking, and it was worse laying down and rolling over in bed.  A pillow didn't help because it hurt to lift the leg to put the pillow there.  I am still hurting in the pelvic bone area.  Yes I have the normal pressure down there do to my LO dropping, but this pain is different and shouldn't be ignored.
