3rd Trimester

I'm in L&D :)

So... nothing too exciting, but we're in L&D for the night.

I was 5cms yesterday at my appointment, came in for mild contractions today and bloody show... I live an hour and a half from the hospital, and we were in town getting ready to head back.. so my MW said to come be checked.

My contractions were every 3-7 minutes apart, and I had progressed to a 6, so they decided to keep me!

The current plan is that I'm receiving my antibiotic every 4 hours (I'm on my second dose right now) and being monitored intermittently. The IV took two sticks, and the hand stick hurt like a mother trucker, but now its in my arm and ok... I'm glad I'm only hooked to it for antibiotics though!

I've walked some, and been on the ball some... the ball really kicks them up! I'm in a rocking chair right now, bumping and letting my back rest.

I'm really not in that much pain... they're every 3-4 minutes apart, and I know they'll get worse.... but right now it's just uncomfortable.

If I haven't progressed significantly by morning (I'm going to attempt to sleep some) they're going to break my water. I'm in the room with the labor tub, so I'm pretty excited about that (my hospital only has one).

Okay... that's all, just had to AW.

They provide it. They have you sit on a CHUCKS pad though.

Actually, I'd check with your hospital. MY hospital provides it, but I don't know if they all do.

First of all, to the original poster, congratulations and I can't wait to read your birth story.

As far as the birthing ball goes, some provide one and make you sit on a pad (so I've been told) others don't but most of them have birthing balls available in the hospital gift shop if you decide that you want one. I know that mine has their birthing balls for the same price as buying an exercise or yoga ball from walmart.

  • GL to you! Can't wait to hear your LO has arrived!
