He said she just has a virus and it needs to run its course. Her throat is red & swollen, but other than that she's "okay" - meaning that her breathing sounds fine, ears look good, etc. Just gotta let this thing run its course. I just feel so bad for her. She's clearly miserable.
An another note, I mentioned to him that the past couple of days she's been fighting me changing her diaper, but I can't figure out why. It seems like she's in pain, but I can't figure it out.
So he checked her out thoroughly "down there", and her labia are beginning to fuse. He said it's just starting, and it's just the labia minor right now, so we just have to make sure to bathe her frequently. He said not necessarily actual baths, but to just let her play in the water (which she loves anyway), so the water can work in there. We also are to apply petroleum jelly to her labia at
every diaper change, to prevent the labia from actually touching without some sort of barrier between them.
And to remind him to check it at every appt from now on, so we can keep it in check.
I feel so bad for her. Mine were fused when I was young. I don't know how old I was when it started, but it was so traumatic that I remember it. I just remember hurting really badly down there, and going to the doctor a lot, and my mom putting the petroleum jelly on me. The pedi explained that once it gets bad, it almost always recurs and that his daughter is 3 and they still have issues with it.

I really hope we can work with this and prevent it from fusing together badly. I just don't want her to go thru the trauma that I did. Poor baby.
Kinda glad she got this virus though. Otherwise I might have waited to take her to the pedi, and we might not have caught it this early. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise.

Good to hear that it is just a virus.
Rylee's labia fused together when she was only like 2months. I was so shocked when we went in there and they told me that.
The pedi told me that it is completely normal and that even her daughters labia fused together. She said that their little legs being closed all the time and the diaper is always on, it happens more than people think. Anyway Rylee's was so bad that I had to use a Rx cream for 7 days. It went right away. The pedi told me that since it happened once it would likely happen again, BUT she is almost two now and it hasn't happened since.
