Before I fork out any $ can anyone tell me if my iPod is dead?

The past 2 days my iPod hasn't been syncing up w/ my stereo and I thought the battery was just dead.  I've had it plugged in for over 30 mins and it still won't do anything.  It isn't charging and iTunes isn't recognizing it.  I'm wondering if it has completely died as I can't get it to do anything.

    Plug it into the wall... leave it over night.  Check again in the morning.  Then if its still not working... try the "4 R's" - Google it.  Hope that helps!!

    Did you already try using a different cable or a different ipod device too see if it just isn't the cable??

    Yep, different cables.  Plugged into the wall, into the computer.  Googled info about it and tried to do a hard reset with no response from the ipod.  I didn't want to call or take it some where just to be told "sorry it is dead"  I might try and get a replacement battery.

    Have you tried resetting it? My old one used to freeze and not take a charge.

    I'm 99% sure that the Mac store "Help Desk" (which you need an appt. for) will look at it for free and run a few free "tests" on it before you have to spend the $$ on a new battery.
