When people ask how far along you are...

Do you go by what your ticker says or by what the bump says?

Re: When people ask how far along you are...

  • I just say 5 months..with all the math and all that jazz about months and days I don't even know how far really, and if you say 23 weeks or what not, they look confused, so I just say 5 months. Stick out tongue

  • Ticker - although the bump sends me emails with the same timing, but my "welcome" jumps the gun. no idea what that's all about?

  • i just say whatever week i am in. like 23 weeks.

  • I usually round it up.. they always look puzzled when I say XX weeks.. lol.. and then Im like nearly 7 months.. OHH.. people are weird. Lol. Id rather hear how many weeks someone is - rather than months.. but maybe because I have found thebump.com!
  • I tell them months not weeks. It's easier.

Same here, and if I am close to Saturday(ticker change day) I say "Almost ** weeks"

  • I go by my calculations.  And I count in weeks.  I have to count it out everytime someone asks me months
  • If it's someone who has been pregnant before, I just say which week I'm in.  If someone else asks me, I just say 4 months.  In November I'll say 5 months, and so on.

This.  I'm short so my bump looks really big.  When I say I'm 19 weeks, everyone's like "Are you carrying twins?".

  • To explain further, my ticker change day is Wednesday, but the bump moves me up the Sunday before. I know no one cares that much, but I keep going back and forth. It's all about an accuracy thing for me, I suppose.
  • I go by my due date. I just say 13weeks.
  • If I'm talking to someone my age or someone who has been pg recently I'll answer in weeks.  They're more apt to understand weeks vs months than older people or someone who hasn't been pg recently.  But if I'm answering an older person or a guy I'll answer 6 months.
  • I just go by my ticker.  But I round up or down so people don't think I'm obsessed.
  • If I'm talking at another pregnant woman then I say weeks but every one else I say months.
  • My ticker is the same day my doc goes by, so I go by the "ticker" time --- if people want to do the math, they can figure out what month it is.

I have found this to be easiest.

  • I give men the months and women the weeks.

A male co-worker told me weeks was too hard for men to figure out but that woman get it as most have been pregnant before.

    I guess?!?!?

  • I usually round up and tell them in weeks. Unless I am at the month stage then I say months.

  • Depending on whom I'm talking to, I either go by weeks or months. (People who don't know tend to divide the weeks by four to figure out the months anyway, which means a lot of people incorrectly think 20 weeks means 5 months. I figure out the month by counting backwards from my due date, which means I was four months yesterday with five months to go.)

When I refer to weeks, I go by my ticker and round up or down, so I would say "18 weeks" today but "almost 19 weeks" starting tomorrow. I think the bump rounds up a day earlier than I do.

  • I don't go into detail (such as months/weeks/days) I just give them weeks & I go by what my doc says I am.
  • I just round to the nearest 1/2 month and give them an "about". I have been saying about 5 1/2. Now I say almost 6.

  • Just FYI, Shorty:

The Bump changes your week in the middle of the week. If you are 19 weeks and 3 days, it says 19 weeks, but once you are 19 weeks and 4 days, it says 20. It rounds up.

Your ticker will be the most accurate as to how many weeks/days you are. The Bump just likes to give you a heads up.

  • I tell them in weeks. My ticker matches what my doctor uses so I'll tell people 27 weeks. When they don't know what 27 weeks means, I'll say "I'm about 6 months."
  • I say my weeks, 23 weeks. then if they look puzzled i then say im due in feb. Big Smile

The bump has me as 23 weeks yesterday but another website has me on thurs. ??? weird! lol

  • Ticker is the same as what the bump says.  I usually tell people in months so they get it easier.
