s/o Carseat

For those of you who have already ditched the infant seat and are now using a convertable seat, what did you go with and why? Any cons and pros you want to point out?

If it matters I drive a Camery.

I am just over my head with all the reviews, websites, blogs etc... about conv carseats. I am going crazy and still have no idea which one to get and we are going to have to get something soon.

Also, for those who share drop off and pick up with your Dh did you get the same for his car?

    We got the Evenflo Symphony?  I liked the price and the reviews (i waited until BRU had their carseat sale).  Ike loves his "big boy" car seat, i love not having the added weight from the infant carrier :o)  GL!

    We got the Britax Boulevards.  After thinking about it, reading Baby Bargains, asking for advice, etc.  Britax kept coming out on top.  It was a toss up between the Marathon and Boulevard but they didn't have good patterns in the Marathon and they only have the CS in stock.  For $10 more, we got the Boulevard in a pattern we liked and it has an adjustable shoulder strap knob instead of the notches you have to thread the strap through.

    I do like the seats.  The kids seem to like them as well.

    There are 2 major drawbacks that I've noticed.  1. When you have them rear facing, the strap to tighten the straps is buried in the seat and it's hard to access.  2.  Because I don't have anything to tether the seats to in the front, the tether straps have to go to the back of the seat the car seat is in.  It's a pain to get the kids in the car seat b/c you have to maneuver them between their seat, the tether strap and the top of the car.  Neither one of these will be issues though once we flip them around to face the front.

    Both of my kids have the Britax Marathon and I really like it. ?Ditto the pp who said that when rear facing, its hard to reach the strap to adjust the shoulders... but so far, that's the only thing that bugged me. ?I absolutely love the carseat - it reclines, so if we're going on a long trip and I want the kids to sleep, I recline it (its just a few inches, but it makes a difference). ?Its super easy to install, super easy to clean / reattach all the parts, etc. ?And mostly, I chose it because the safety features are unmatched. ?Ask any fire department / rescue unit and they will tell you that it is one of the very best on the market. ?Britax just makes really good products. ?Its expensive, but worth the investment... and it goes up 65 pounds, which means it will last until your child doesn't really need one anymore... or can graduate to just a booster seat.

    We have 2 Marathons and a Boulevard. I would suggest the Boulevard for a smaller car (I drive a Suburban). When our girls leave in December to go back to their parents, the Blvd will be moving to DH's truck backseat and I'll keep a Marathon in my truck. I've had both rear-facing, but I haven't had the problem with the teather strap thing. I love my Britax.

    We have the Britax Roundabout and I really like it. 

    Pros:  Great price point (20% coupon from BuyBuy Baby), quality car seat, velcro on the seats that keeps straps out of the way when placing DS in his seat. 

    Cons: Tightening strap can be hard to get to in rear facing position

    I used to have the Chicco Keyfit 30 but DS got too heavy to carry in his carseat.  My huband still uses the Chicco Keyfit when he takes DS to daycare.  He just takes the empty infant carrier with him when he drops DS off

    Most of the Britax seats should fit in the Camry.  My BIL has 2009 Camry and the Marathon fits fine in his car.

    Jack was out of the infant carrier at like, 6 months I think?  We got a Britax Roundabout and it totally blew his mind.  He was SO much happier!  I think he was feeling really cramped in the infant carrier ... he was a long kiddo.

    We have the Britax Roundabout 50, and an Evenflo Titan.  LOVE my Britax ... not so thrilled with the Evenflo.  The straps get twisted REALLY easily and its not as sturdy as the Britax either.  That being said, it's much more affordable.  $100 more affordable actually.

    We are getting a Britax Marathon for my car and a Roundabout for dh's.  If you go to albeebaby.com they have certain patterns on sale, plus the shipping would be free.

    We have the Britax Marathon for my car when she outgrows her infant carrier.  I debated which Britax I wanted, but went with the Marathon since it went to 65lbs and will last longer.  We have the Roundabout for DH's car, but it only goes to 40lbs so while it's smaller, it won't get used as long as the Marathon.

    We have the Britax Decathlon and switched Hudson over to it rear-facing when he outgrew his infant carrier. We decided on the Decathlon because we did have the space for a larger seat and it went up to the 65 lbs. weight limit vs. 40 lbs. I've been incredibly pleased with the Britax and plan on purchasing another one for when this baby outgrows the infant carrier as well. For their safety standards, Britax is well worth the money IMO.
