#1 is the original book, #2 is like cliff notes with a focus on early childhood. Don't think you need #3 yet, there are a few others like that one that focus on specific problems for older kids.

Yes and no. #1 is the book for kids 6-high school or so. It doesn't apply to the younger set at all. I actually started reading it and was like how is this going to work.
#2 was written with the birth-6 crowd in mind and how to work with kids that can't reason, talk, etc.
Did you finish it? I felt like there was more of the....method/philosophy/background whatever you want to call it in PwL&L. And it does talk about all ages, but you are right the focus is on 5/6 +. L&L EC was written by one of their sons, and I felt that while it was totally focused on what to do with young ones it was otherwise L&L, the reader's digest version
