From laying to sitting question

When did your LO start doing this? It didn't occur to me today that James can't go from laying to sitting and I never thought this might be a problem, but maybe it is? Well, not a problem but something he maybe should be doing by now?

He also isn't crawling, if that means anything, and he's nearly 10 months old. Oh, and he was six weeks early, so his adjusted age is around eight months now.

    Are you asking when my LO could put herself into sitting position? She started being able to do that a couple of weeks ago, but I think it varies a lot (when they start doing that).

    Can your ds get into a sitting position by himself when he is not laying down?  Ds doesn't go directly from laying to sitting, it is a whole process.  First he rolls on his belly, then pushes up to all 4's and then gets into a sitting position.

    D just started doing that this weekend.  She still isn't crawling, she gets up  on all fours and rocks then sits back down and scoots to where she wants to go.

    Nope, he's not doing that either. He rolls around like crazy, he drags his body with his arms everywhere around the house, but he doesn't pull himself into a sitting position at all. If he wants to sit I pick him up and put him on his butt.

    Two nights ago I saw my DD do it for the first time... and I have seen her to it a few times since.

    J does the EXACT same thing as your baby.  I could have written this post!  I'm starting to wonder if I'm impeeding his progress by picking him up & putting him on his butt.  :(
