Re: Nest Anni's post...

Hi ladies!

Regarding the recent post from Nest Anni about The Bump's Terms of Use, please feel free to page me or privately PM me with **ANY** questions, comments or concerns as that is why I am here, as the Moderator of this board.

Everything will remain confidential and I will make sure to pass everything along, anonymously should you like, to Anni and the other Bump Gods.

Our board has always run so smoothly, with little violation of the Terms of Use and I'd like to keep it that way!   :)

  • I think I saw the same post on the 0-3 mo board. Could it be that she was just reminding everyboby? Thanks for taking care of things.

Yes, it seems there's a general reminder post like hers going around all the boards.  No one on this board did anything to warrant that post!  :)

  • When I saw the 'terms' post I thought "uh oh who did something on another board"....I missed the drama Stick out tongue

  • I understand it in that nobody wants to be solicited too and I really don't think that anyone on here does that.  But, it stinks that we can't share what we do to make money on the side now.  I've gotten so many good ideas from the girls on this board and to see that stop seems like taking away a big benefit of the SAHM board.  Say I've been considering selling Pampered Chef (never would but for the sake of argument) I'd love to be able to know that so and so SAHM does it or did it and what her experiences were.  And if someone finds a great way to make money and still be home with the kids then sharing it is a good thing.

I know that I personally have talked about what I'm doing from home on the side when others ask how to afford to be a SAHM or things to do from home.  I'm not trying to sell anything to anyone and never even give my company information.  In fact, I only service a small county in a single state so even if I were looking to sell I wouldn't have any luck here.  :)  But, I learned about this industry from another SAHM on these boards and without her would not be where I am now.  It seems a shame to lose that.

Just my two cents.  Obviously nobody likes those "join my sales team and earn thousands a week" posts you sometimes get and I'd say we are pretty good at calling out the poster on it.

I know it wasn' t meant for anyone in particular or even our board maybe but I'd hate to see things have to change.

oh ok that's good! You are from Austin? My sister goes to UT and like everyone else, she loves Austin. We will be moving out of Texas for the first time this spring. Not sure what to think about it. I guess it will be ok. What do you think?

A LOT of people completely agree with you and feel the exact same way, including me!  I love all the personal recommendations I've received from local Bumpies who have so much talent and I, too am sad to not really be able to openly share ideas, business recommendations and vendor reviews with each other directly.  *sigh*  You CAN always PM someone!  I know, I know, totally not the same but I guess we have to keep in mind that The Bump IS a business and the advertisers on this website paid The Bump a lot of money to market their products so, it's not fair for bump users to advertise for free.  You know?

That is an excellent point... I never thought of it that way and it makes total sense.   I guess then that we can still generally say what we do if people are looking for ideas or have questions but can't openly share company names on here.  I can definitely live with that since we have PM... :)   Thanks!!!

Oh, yes... as far as I understand from talking to Nest Anni and other Moderators, you *CAN* discuss what you do, you just can't solicit by linking your personal WAH website or anything like that but you can tell other Bumpies that they can PM you for specific info!  :)

I also just found out that we *CAN* answer questions like; "where can I get a designer sling?" with a Bumpies user name, referring that person to a Bumpie that might make custom slings that you just loved BUT said sling maker can't post about her services or link to her Etsy site.

    Does this make any sense?

Basically, NO blatant, direct marketing or soliciting of your own or another's business with the name of their company or a link to their website BUT you can say; "I love the sling TobeMrs.Shavers made for me, try paging her".  And then, I can PM that person a link to my site and more specific information.

I hope this has been more helpful than confusing!  :)
