My first halloween costume making experience has turned out pretty good. I made the vest & skirt. I had to post the second pict bc you can see the shirt & skirt better.
Thanks ladies!! BTW, I obviously didn't make the shirt or boots. That was my splurge : )
wedonabudget - I didn't buy a pattern (pretty much trial & error with newspaper). I made the vest out of felt...so all I had to sew were the side seams and shoulders. That stuff is cheap and doesn't fray, so no heming or seaming the arms or anything, really easy. I cut out cowprint fabric and ironed it on the front & back and just sewed along the edge. Instead of paying for fringe by the yard, I just made my own from the felt (which C has already managed to rip some off, but oh well) and sewed it on. I found a cute horse patch that I ironed on the front. It really turned out great. I need to get a picture of just the vest.

Hey dec05gurl...we miss you in Cincy! Super cute costume. How is everything going in Texas?
I came over here to post about a woman my sister works with (in Ft. Worth) who sells dresses on etsy and saw your screen name. Small world.
