The Montgomery County Health Department (MCHD) has scheduled two walk-in H1N1 flu clinics for pregnant women and 5 to 9 year olds who are Montgomery County residents. Due to limited supply of H1N1 vaccine these clinics will only offer H1N1 vaccine to pregnant women and 5 to 9 year olds, who are a high priority risk group as determined by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Pennsylvania State Health Department.
There is no charge for the immunization.
The dates, times and locations of the clinics are:
?? Thursday, October 29th from 10am to 1pm at Congregation Beth Or, 239 Welsh Road, Maple Glen
?? Friday, October 30th from 10am to 1pm at Fairview Village Church of the Nazarene, 3044 West Germantown Pike, Eagleville
The 5 to 9 year olds will require a second dose approximately four weeks after receiving the first vaccine.
A screening form for the 5 to 9 year olds can be found on the Health Department?s website at www.health.montcopa.org. Parents/guardians can download, print and fill out the form and bring it to the H1N1 flu clinic.
Residents must bring their driver?s license.
The H1N1 vaccine does not protect against seasonal flu.
H1N1 2009 influenza activity has been circulating in Montgomery County.
In the last couple of weeks, influenza disease and influenza like illness reports has increased through out Montgomery County.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health has distributed approximately 60,000 H1N1 vaccine doses throughout Montgomery County which has been sent to hospitals, health care providers who care for high-risk patients, medical offices and other clinics.
Over the next couple of weeks to months, as more vaccine arrives it will also be distributed through more health care providers, schools, universities, public clinics and other venues.
