Would you expect all the nail holes in the walls to be filled and painted over? DH mentioned that we needed to do this the other night and I disagreed. When we put our house on the market, we removed most of our stuff from the walls only leaving up what we thought we needed for it to looked "staged". Then, we had a painter come to do touch-up work throughout the house and we had him fill all those nail holes and paint over them while he was here. Well, now that we have removed everything else, there are, of course, more nail holes. DH thinks that we need to take care of them for the people who have bought our house (they have their final walk-through coming up Sunday before we close on Monday). I don't think that it's necessary for us to do that and we certainly don't have the time to do that since we will be focusing on moving all of our stuff to our new house. I highly doubt that the owners of the house we are moving in to will do that for us! On the other hand, since we are just moving around the corner from our current house, the people moving here will be our "neighbors" and I'm sure we will run into them alot. So, I don't want to NOT do something that we should have done for them, ya know?! What are your thoughts?
Re: NBR: Moving into a pre-owned house...
I think it would be a really nice gesture to do... It shouldn't take too long really. If you get teh quick dry spackling, you and jim could knock that out in an hour or less... I mean, how many nail holes will you really have, ya know??? Are you leaving the paint cans at the house for the new owners???
I don't think we did when we moved but maybe you could just spackle the holes and then if you are leaving the paint, you wouldn't have to paint???
While it might be nice to do, it is certainly not something I would expect a seller to do before I bought a house, imo.
I would expect the house to be clean, but that's about it.

Agree with this.

Ditto. And I would leave any leftover paint from the staging, or at least the brand/finish/formula you used, so if they choose to keep the same colors, they can have touchups readily available. More than likely, they'll repaint to suit their tastes...our house had brand new neutral paint when we moved in, but it was an almost camel colored tan and our sofa is greige/taupe (plus I just prefer taupe over camel), so we had to totally repaint.
