Pregnant after a Loss

Freaking out about daycare!

I just got a call from the lady from church who is going to keep Zachary when I go back to work. She is having back surgery on November 5th and thought she would be fine when I go back to work 12 weeks after Zach is born. Well she just had an appt today & they told her the recovery period is 4-6 months (Feb-April area) and in that time she can not lift anything heavier than 5-8lbs. She is so upset, and feels like she is letting me down. I reassured her that we don't blame her & she needs to take care of herself but at the same time I am freaking out about what to do. I sent an e-mail to my Pastor to see if anyone else he knows from church does in home daycare ( we don't want regular daycare). I am considering seeing if I can cut down to 4 days a week and then my hubby can take off 1 day a week & maybe his Dad can take him the other days. I just don't know!!! Crying

  • oh no!  You had such a good arrangement going too!  Good luck making other arragements, that's gotta be so stressful.  ((Hugs))

  • I'm sorry your care fell through.  Try not to worry too much yet, maybe their is someone else who can watch him, even short term until the other woman is back on her feet.
  • I'm sorry :( That's stressful. I so hope you can work some type of temporary situation out! Keep asking around, and don't give up hope. Things will come together.

  • oh no, can your DH take some of his leave then?  Sometimes people structure their leaves to where one parent watches the child the first few weeks and then the other parent takes over for a few more weeks after that.

finding daycare is so stressful. I hope you are able to find a solution soon.  I know how difficult it is.  Do you guys have drop in day care centers where you live.  We used this service quite a bit.

  • That sucks!! I'll keep my fingers crossed that it all ends up working out for you!
  • bummer Melis!  I hope something turns up for you!
  • Can you look into hosting an au pair? She'd need her own private bedroom, but it might be an option. If you look for someone who's in-country already, it can be a quick turnaround and you won't have a full year commitment. Just a thought. PM if you want more info. GL!
