  • I think the most appreciated gift for DCP would be cash, or a nice gift certificate.

I think ettiquette says one week's worth of pay. How many people actually do that though, I don't know. I certainly don't have the money, especially at Christmas time, to give that much. I wish I could, but it's not in the budget at all.

Last year, we gave her a card and I made some goodies for her. She seemed to appreciate it a lot.

  • I'd think if you took the amount you pay per month divide by the days you bring DC you'd figure out a day's pay for your kid...

I know for my Mom, (who is my DCP) she's gotten all kids of different gifts, ranging from really nice gift certificates to clearly regifted items.  She doesn't really care, and I don't think she's gotten cash..since I'm sure that's more uncomfortable for people.  She likes restaurant GCs and Spa GCs.

I pay by the day since L's there 3 days a week. A nice gift card sounds good.

LOL I thought you were aking how to figure out how much you pay per day...but you'd probably know that.

  • This year I am going to do a small Aveda gift basket. Candle, bodywash, lotion, so a value of around $ 40 ?
  • i'm making a tea and scone mix basket for mine ... her dh works for macy*s so that rules out a gift card.

  • Last year at Xmas time our nanny had only been working for us for 4 months. So we did a half week's pay, a really cool shawl (that DH picked out and she loved! I was very proud of him), and a bottle of wine. This year we'll probably do something along the same line - a week's pay, a personal gift, and a bottle of wine.
  • At Mads daycare center there are three main teachers in her room and two assistants.  How should I handle that?  I really don't have the money to do something big for each of them.
