She has lots of brightly colored and different textured links (i.e. what you can hang toys from things with). They're small enough that she can wrap her little fingers around them and she can toss them around too.
The biggest thing she loves is her mirror. She could stare at herself forever!
Babies like things with lots of black and white and red. My babe has lots of LAMAZE toys b/c they have great solid colors that are eye catching for infants. He really didn't "play" or enjoy them until the last two weeks when we started actively using the play mat. Prior to that, we didn't play any toys. Otherwise, he has a crawl ball that is a big hit with the other kids who I have had play with it at around 6 months. And, he likes the 'pull' toys that make noise. I hung some on his playmat.
OH and for his crib we have the musical aquarium and that catches his eye really well. It lights up, makes music and the fish move through the tank. It's cute. All of these things can be bought at BRU.
He doesn't really play yet, but loves the baby einstein floor mat and rainforest bouncy chair. The best thing to do right now is talk and interact with your LO.

Also, just plain old rattles.

This for me, also. I will be getting an activity gym/mat thing right away though.
