would you buy a glider that didn't have a locking mechanism? there are few that are reasonable priced but don't say that it locks in place..

Re: glider/locking mechanism-would you buy glider w/o it?

  • We thought long term when buying a chair for the nursery.  IMO, gliders don't look good anywhere in the house except the nursery.  We bought a rocking, recliner instead and are SOOOOO glad we did.  1) we've slept in that room on more than one occasion and it's much more comfortable than a glider and 2) we'll move the chair to the family room once we're done w/ it.

  • we did - we plan on throwing it away as soon as we're done using it though. I hate the look of gliders or rocking chairs/rocking recliners so we weren't going to keep it around. We just bought the cheapest one we could find.
  • I wouldn't.  Now that I'm pregnant with our second, I find myself sleeping in the glider sometimes and greatly prefer locking it so that I'm at a set reclined position.
