Stay at Home Moms

One by one we're all getting H1N1!

First my 7 year old had it, then my 5 year old, then our 2 year old...now me! It is spreading like wild fire here in Central PA. 1/3 of each classroom is out each day! The good news is that it really isn't that bad...considering. I heard that it was going to be the mother of all flues, but so far for everyone I know, it's just a high fever that comes and goes. My oldest had it for 6 days, my middle son for 3 days and our youngest had it for about 3 or so days. I'm on day 1. As long as I keep rotating Motrin and Tylenol, I'm fine. The kids would spike a 102-104 fever and once we could break it, they'd be running around playing. Those of you who don't have school age kids, you're at an advantage. Of course if you take your children to play places where there are kids who do have older siblings, just be careful...SANITIZE AND WASH HANDS. Of course you all already know that, but it's just my public service announcement for today. :) The sneaky thing with H1N1 is that you will think it's gone and then surprise, it's back. Every single parent I know had sent their child back to school...just to have them sent home again. It'll go away for a whole day and then sneak attack for another day or two.

STAY HEALTHY!! :)

  • Isn't it fun?  Are you getting the Tamiflu?  We opted not to get it for the girls, but did get it for DH (and me preventative).  DH swears it helped him.  Then again, you never know.  DD#1 had 7 days of fever (like you said - two days of fever, two days of next to nothing and then back with a vengeance for 3 more days).  DD#2 never even had a fever and just had bad cold symptoms.  DH had four days of it, but only one or maybe two of bad fever and he swears the Tamiflu helped him kick it quicker than DD#1.  Anyway, might be worth a call.

  • We all have it too and half of my younger son's class is out sick with it also.

  • Oh no Carrie!  I'm sorry to hear that you have been dealing with this.  I know at my daughters pre-school (she's 3) there have been absences like crazy.  I keep checking her pediatricians site but so far they don't have the vaccine in.

I lucked out today and was tipped off about our county health department having some doses in shot form of the H1N1 vaccine.  I called and told them I am 7 months pregnant with a 3 year old and 1 1/2 year old and there have been flu cases at my 3 year olds school.  They are having me come in this afternoon for my shot.  But, unfortunately only I can get it from them and not my girls.

Hope you all feel better soon!!!
