Trying to Get Pregnant

Anyone just hairy and not have PCOS?

Weird question but I was wondering    I've ben hairy for as long as I can remember, as far as hair on my upper thighs, my lower belly and my chin.   I'm not overweight at all, I had very regular periods before BC, never had acne or anything else.

I've asked two different Gynecologist and was told that it was my Italian heritage and I just had sensitive hair follicles and I'm also just have really dark hair so it shows more.

They seem to think that I would have more symptoms if my hormones were out of wack and the fact that I'm on BC they said that would of made it better if it was hormonal.

I'm going off the pill in 2 months and I'm gonna see what happens but I'm just wondering if anyone else is just hairy :)

  • I feel your pain.  I am utterly horrified at some of the places I've found a stray hair.

  • I do have PCOS, and I have very little body hair.  So I'm sure it can work both ways.

If you're concerned about PCOS, I'd suggest charting as soon as you get off BCP.  You'll have a better idea if you're ovulating and would have information to take to your Dr sooner if you see a problem.

First of all your post title cracked me up! Second, are you taking PNVs?

I am Italian-American and always had hair in the spots you mentioned spots.

I was afraid it might be PCOS but from doing alittle research I actually think its the PNVs that are making my hair follicles go nuts!

So more waxing and shaving is in order for me! Boo!

I haven't been tested for PCOS but I mentioned to my gyn/ob and she didn't seem worried.

    GL!

  • OH goodness, I'm very hairy but mine is blonde so it's a little less easy to notice.
  • I am on PNV but have only been on them for about 2 yrs and had the problem before then.  I've asked my 1st Dr a few times and her being Italian also, she just said it comes with the territory.  I don't have really dark skin but have the really dark hair.  It's just really annoying!!!

To those who think the topic is gross, your lucky you don't have to deal with it!

Unfortunately, I feel your pain. I have the hair on my lower belly, upper lip, and fairly thick on my arms. I really cannot help with your original question because my doctor suspects PCOS for me (see my siggy). I am also really thin, but was told that does not rule out PCOS.

All I can say is start charting your BBT right away once you get off BCP.  This will allow you to see if you are ovulating and will give you much more information to give to your doctor. GL!

  • I have PCOS and am very hairy. I've never been KU, but my sister says that prenatal vitamins make your hair grow really fast, which would be a point to argue against PCOS.

However, it is also possible to have regular periods with PCOS. When you come off bcp, you need to chart to make sure you're ovulating. However, you can even ovulate regular and have it, but that's not very common, I don't think.
